Urgent! Need HELP!

Today I took out my front seats to clean the carpet under the seats. Of course, as I suspected, with a used car, it was flithy and had soda spilled all over the carpet. Well I cleaned that all up and now its sparkling clean. I plugged everything back in and installed the seats back into the car and now the SRS light won't go off. I tried "rebooting" the car by unhooking the negative battery terminal and left it unhooked for a while and hooking it back up and it still didn't work. Someone help me please! My car is out of warranty too!

Well I tried to reset the SRS light this morning but it didn't work. According to the instructions, I says to jump the 2 wires and the light will go off. But I just the 2 wires, and the light is still lit so I can't proceed witht he next step. Now the CEL is blins like 5 times everytime I turn ignition to on then goes off. While driving the car, at idle, the car "hesitates" the rpms drop to like 500 and the car starts shaking for a sec and revs bac to 750 and is back to normal again. That just keeps happening during the whole duration fo the stop, off and on and off etc. Never thought taking otu the seats to clean the carpet under would cause all of this...

Reset the ECU again. Then follow these instructions. If its not doing it your doing it wrong. (also make sure you have all teh seat conectors plugged in) Also if you decide to do this again, Disconect the battery before you decide to unplug the seat to make sure that it doesnt happen again

here is a good link

How do you reset the ECU? By pulling the negative terminal off correct? Then about the instructions, the link isn't working. I thought it wouldn't do any harm by pulling it out without unhooking the battery because the key was out and I thought the SRS would be shut down because if the car was hit when the car wasn't on its not like it would blow the airbags. But I guess it I wrong. Thanks for the info.

I beleive Acura has finally agreed to make our "SRS LIGHT" problem into a recall! I was forwarded a letter form HONDA/ACURA CORP. the other day........It was forwarded by CROWN ACURA of Clearwater.........It is saying they are recalling all 01-03' TL, CL, and RL's. They have already begun sending out 5-8000 mailers.

Yes, but his isnt warranty related. He unpluged the seat with the battery still conected, which triggers the SRS light.

LOL I am resetting the ECU now and I am going to try it again. I hate pull the battery because then I have to unhook the antenna form the radio in order to put the radio code in. I am not going to take it back to the dealer, thats for sure unless its a real problem. I just wants to see this latest recall for our cars.

For our cars, its the yellow connector with the 2 green wires right? Its not the other yellow connector with the black and green with the black stripe wire correct?

Yea i have the lower dash removed, but I have 2 yellow connectors, one with 2 green wires and the other one has a green with black strip and a black wire. I am still unsucessful in resetting it. When I connect the wires, the light doesn't go off after 6 seconds like other said it would. Sign of a bigger problem?

I don't know, I been trying the yellow connector with the 2 green wires for a while now. I been trying different types of wires to jump it but the light never has gone off once. May I ask what kind of wire you use if you have ever reseted the SRS light before? I am guessing you never had too because you were smarter than me to know to pull the battery first. lol

Hello I would think that if Kris (aka: fsttyms1) could do a first ever 6 Speed Conversion (please click the link, you will see the wiring mess he has to deal with) on a 2G TL, he would know which wire to pull in order to reset the ECU Did you also happen to notice that he is a moderator and has over 21,000 posts and counting? Advise: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Huh? I am not even underestimating his knowledge or putting him down.. Did you even read the last thing I wrote correctly? I made the assumption he wouldn't be sure what kind of wire specifically to use to jump the connector, which was what I was asking, since he is smarter than me and pulled the battery before unhooking the seats and wouldn't have to go resetting the SRS. So don't get me wrong here, I am following everything fsttyms1is saying and I am WELL aware of the 6 speed coversion he is undertaking. I admire all his work and help. I am not "biting the hand" of whose helping me, I am following his every word and accepting his advice with great appreciation.

shouldnt matter on the wire. I used a paper clip method (much harder to do) I guess the key is to make sure the wire is all teh way in so that its making contact inside the clip.

Also double check that you have all teh harnesses under your seat plugged in.

Ok, thanks! I am going to give it a try. I bet I haven't gotten the wires in far enough to hit the contacts since it has been difficult getting different wires into the connector to jump it.

Well I got it! I resetted the SRS light! Whoo hoo! After trying numerous of times with yellow connector with the 2 green wires and being unsucessful, I gave up and tried the other yellow connector right above it with the black and green and black stripe connector. With the first try, I got it! LOL. Thanks alot Kris for your help! I guess on the 02 to 03 models its the other connector? Or the factory wired my car incorrectly? LOL

Haha...it's alright, lucky thing jumping the yellow connector with the 2 green wires didn't cause any damage to occur. LOL If it did, it would have been a MESS! Thanks alot anyways Kris! If something is wrong with the SRS system, after resetting the system, the light would light up again right? One more, I do believe I recall that the ABS and SRS light go out at the same time when turn the key to the On position or am I wrong? Now it goes off after the ABS light. I don't know, I am probably wrong since I probably forgot the sequence in which the lights went out before since I been driving around seeing that light on all the time.

Yea if there was something wrong it would come back on. It was on just because you disconected it with battery power still conected.

I dont remember on the other lights (its been so long since ive had power to my car. But it seems right
