Must be related to this TSB ???

If the security system sounds when not armed, the problem may be traced to a faulty multiplex control unit (99-012, March 1999).

Let us try this again:

There are 3 separate CPUs that control various warning systems, illumination intensity, intermittent wipers, power windows, the remote control security system, auto headlight system for the 2003 TL's. The communication between the CPUs is via a multiplex data unit.
If you are having a problem, it might be due to one of the CPU's malfunctioning, not the mulitplex unit.

For other forum members to help you, can you describe what kind of problem you are having (or what you intend to do)...and what year car you are driving ??

the passenger multiplex unit is on the inside part of the passenger fusebox. i think it is an off white color. if you are sitting in the front passengers door area looking at the fusebox. i think it is about the size of 2 packs of cigarette boxes put side by side, or maybe alittle bit smaller.

The passenger's multiplex control unit is located at the righ end of the dash. You may want to remove the glove box to see it.

Once removed the glove box, you should see a box with the label up side down (if i remember correctly)

I think this is it...cuz there us NO other boxes except for the fuse box there..I have 2002 TL. The dome light was dead but according to the manual, the dome light is controlled by the passenger mult. unit....took it to the dealer and they said it was the DRIVER and when to order it.....I think the dealer f**ked it up this time...and I wanted to test out the unit first. Anyways, it's the passenger's one that was bad. I guess when the part gets here, they puts it in and it doesn't work, they'll have to order the passenger one and make me wait some more now.. :banghead:
