UPSIDE down in lease with high mileage
I went way over my mileage on a 01 TL. I was supposed to stop at 68K but have reached up to 105K. I wanted to keep the car but with the transmission warranty up I don't feel safe spending this much money. I was originally going to buy the car last year but ended up extending the lease. My buyout is approx $15,8K but the current BB is about $11,5K My question is will the dealer waive any of the mileage fees if I lease another vehicle from Acura? Most likely I will have to downsize to a RSX due to instability with current job. Would it be better to pay the $6K and walk away?

i worked for Acura and no, they do not waive any miles because your getting another Acura, it's quite possible they will try to help you with the 6k but that will pretty much be selling the car at full price and claiming they will help with a 2k or so.

So looking at those numbers with that mileage you should just dump it off on them and pay the 6k. Even if you sold it you the 'excellent' private party rating price is only $12,345. You would still be taking a bath on it.
I would definately try giving it back to the dealer and see if they would cut you any slack on getting into a new or possibly pre-owned acura. good luck

Yikes! Sorry to hear that man. I was thinking of leasing myself, but I have heard a lot of horror stories about leasing. They won't let you off the hook easy; even when the mileage is within allowable mileage range. This is for all dealers not just honda/acura.

I've had several leased cars that were turned in within the allowable range. I handed them the keys and walked away.

I don't mean to be mean, but you should've tried to hold down the mileage as much as possible..but guess you already knew that. I'd go with the most cost effective method. To me, it'd be to buy your car out, if you like the car or just pay the 6K and never go over the mileage limit on another lease ever again.

i will suggest to try to negotiate the the buyout price. If you can buy it for $14000. then try to sell it yourself. if you get $10K or 12K for it from a private buyer you will not loose to much....~$3k to $4k
good luck

In for the long haul.
I know everybody said to give it back but I decided to keep her. Just couldn't pay the 6K and walk. Now I can modify to my hearts content. Just praying that the transmission will last.
