Upgrading just front rotor possible?

Is it possible to just upgrade front rotors to slotted and leaving rear rotors as OEM rotors? Is this not recommended or does anyone run this setup. Looking on tirerack at the powerslot rotors and only saw fronts no rears and I might be able to only change my fronts right now since I don't have the money to do all four and wanted to upgrade to slotted rotors. Would it be bad to have just slotted front rotors?

Just slotted on the front is fine. The fronts do most of the braking anyway. Installing slotted on the rear is as much for looks as anything else.

I did just that -- upgraded to slotted rotors + Hawk pads (2 weeks ago) and yesterday, I changed my rear rotors + pads to new OEM rotors + pads. Most of the braking is done with the fronts so the back brakes don't need to be anything particularly special (outside of bragging rights and looks).

I have a question regarding front rotors, I will replace all 4 of my rotors soon, but can I have this setup with Powerslot/Rotora slotted rotors up in the front and Brembo Blanks in the back? I will replace all 4 at the same time. Will this cause a problem? Will this setup make my braking uneven? Would I have to change the rotors sooner or later than the slotted or blanks?

I just changed my breaks on my 2005 TL with 23k miles! same thing happened on my 2002 TL Type S...Acura Breaks are crap! so this time I decided to change it all, I did high performance sloted rotors and breaks. so much better!!!! I also changed the tires to pirellis the car is too powerful for thoses stock bridgestones they use, plus the bridgestones are summer tires they suck in the snow! try axis Brakes and pads and pirelli pzero's what good is all that power under the hood if the car doesn't have the stopping or handling power.

I recently upgraded to Rotoras on the front and stock on the back with EBD Greenstuff all around. Works much better than the stocks imo. No problems whatsoever.

No, I was planning to order Rotora slotted fronts from excelerate and get the Brembo Blanks from TireRack.

Why? Is there a discount somewhere?

Do I need performance pads? Can I just get regular brake pads? I heard satisfied pads were good, any other recommendations?

Depending on what you want yo have plenty of options... I have iRotors crossdrilled on all four and Axis pads. The whole set-up cost me just under $300 with shipping.

If you are going to put slotted rotors on, understand that they will wear your pads MUCH faster as they slice a VERY thin layer off your pads during stopping. Slotted rotors were designed for race cars that need fresh brakes quickly for each stop.

If you are looking to upgrade performance get crossdrilled rotors to allow the heat and dust to escape from the rotors under braking but they won't eat your pads as quickly.

As for pads. Most good performance pads have some brake noise. Not all the time, but more than the OEM pads or organic pads will. Again, if you want better performance, deal with a squeak now and then.

It doesn't make much sense to put good performance rotors on the car and then put crappy OEM type pads.

About a year, maybe just under..overall have been really happy w/ them. The pads can be a little loud but they stop great.

I've never heard this. What I've heard is that the slots are for dissipating the gas that forms between the pad and rotor under braking.

the axxis pads suck. too much noise and dust and didt like how they couldnt handle heat. i got like 35k out of them and i had to take teh axxis pads off. i couldnt take the dust. EBC green stuff lasted alot longer.

the slots are designed to deglaze teh pad by shaving a thing layer. I got 70k out od a set of pads so i wouldnt exactly say pad ilfe is shorter. The slots in 1 direction will tend to wear faster than teh other. Front of car. \ this way faster wear

So will the pads in the front last 70k as well?

Which one is better, interms of dust, noise and lifetime: EBC Greenstuff or Satisfied Pro Ceramic?

Totally agreed. The Axxis Ultimate pads made too much black dust and felt softer compare to the EBC GreenStuff. My Axxis pads lasted around 40K Km before hitting the screechy low-pad-warning clips, installed the same time with the Rotora slotted rotors.

Slotted rotors do wear out pads faster, but also grab better and stop faster. You just don't gain something for nothing. You want better stopping, your pads wear faster.

How many miles or kilimeters should I expect to get from the pads with Front Slotted Rotora's and either EBC greenstuff or Satsified Pro Ceramics pads?

Between 10k and 70k. Its not really a question we can answer. It all depends on your driving. every ones results are different. I woudl say honestly 40-50K would ba a resonable estimate. You may want to look into EBC's new oem style replacement pad. It may last longer than the green stuff

I just installed the Rotora slotted front rotors and EBC Green Stuff pads. Cured the steering wheel shake caused by warped rotors I was getting. (I also installed the UR crank pulley at the same time to help cure another problem. )

I just had my front brakes replaced with drilled/slot rotors and Satisfy ProACT. braking is firmer. However my mechanic tested the car and told me that brake paddle pulsating when brake arounf 35 mph. I hve not brake hard at that speed yet because I suppose to take it easy in the first 500 miles. My rear brakes are solid and also ProACT pads. No noise and no dust. I am hoping the pulsating paddle is the result of ABS because the brake is tight when is bedding in.

I Hope this would some perspective what to expect.

Its not the ABS. its most likely the slots causing it as the pads are seating. that or cheap rotors. what kind of rotors did you get

These drilled/ slotted rotors are from the Brembo blanks. It has Brembo stamped on the edge of the rotors. I paid $140 for a pair of front rotors. I figureed if the blanks are Brembo,it should be too bad unless they bought the rejected blanks. I hope you are right about the bedding the slots. It brakes solidly and no noise but I have not tried to brake it hard becuse it only has few miles on it.

THe EBC GreenStuff, when installed, do you still see the green color on the cover through your wheels?

How much of your current pads can you see? That's how much of the EBC pads you'll see. You win the vzuptnguyen award for this question.
