Upgrading/ Downgrading from the TL
Provided that you were satisfied with (or hated) the 2nd gen TL, which would be a next car to consider?
Staying at the same category, my choices are:
-Mercedes Benz E-500/ E55 AMG
-BMW 5- series
-Audi S4
-Lexus GS400
-Might consider a 3rd gen TL 6MT
What would be yours?

That aside, I'd consider the Inifinity G35 AWD.
I noticed your title with Upgrading or Downgrading, but to me all of those choices are just upgrades!! With the exception of the 3 Gen TL.. cuz thas its in the same class. Im just curious to see which one you think is down grading?
Besides that, given me with those choices I'd go in the following order:
1. E55 AMG
2. BMW 5 Series
3. E500
4. GS 400
5. 3rd Gen TL
6. Audi S4
These cars are all great... obviosly if money wasn't the issue. If it was...then I would pick the TL again.

My "staying" choice would be an ES 300 together with the TL 6MT.
Sorry but the Infiniti was not a consideration.
On the downgrading side:
Accord EX- V6 MT
Camry XLE V6 MT
Subaru Legacy GT MT
I'm probably the only one who would actually downgrade. I would be perfectly happy with a loaded up Accord V6 for $24k, that nearly matches the features that are important to me on the TL-S. My Acura dealer isn't even all that much better than my old Honda dealer--but I would miss the loaner car.
If money wasn't an object, then an E-class would be in the driveway already

Depends on what my budget is at that point in time.
Right now I'm contemplating the s/c vs. getting an AWD G35 or an '02 or '03 C32...I really like my car and would rather keep it another two years with the s/c installed and decide from there...
If I go that route, in two years:
Skyline or Supra is a must to consider if it is here (no matter the price and fact that I may lose the utility of my sedan)
C32
GS430
used E55 (unless I get a healthy raise)
G35
Dude,
You're making me dream already ...
upgrading (in descending order):
1) E55 -- what a beast
2) GS430 -- wait 'til the next gen comes out in 2005
3) S4 -- amazing how they fit a V8 in the hood
4) 5-series ( < 2003 -- like the old bodystyle better and less i-Drive)
same class:
1) Lexus GS300 (I don't like the ES)
2) 3rd gen TL-6MT
3) Infiniti G35 (coupe -- don't like 4-door too much)
4) Volvo S60
5) Audi A4
downgrade:
1) Accord V6
2) Camry V6 (coupe looks better than sedan)
3) Suburu
---
Overall, if I were to stay with a sedan, I'd look at the next gen Lexus GS. My jaw almost dropped with the new Lexus LS (ultra luxury package -- need a driver to enjoy the massanging rear seats). I wouldn't drop my $$$ on Mercedes (my bro's C32 AMG and other people I know have had electronics problems with theirs) -- lease, maybe.
However, I'm most likely going towards a coupe. I love my TL-S but I miss some sportiness with a coupe. In the market probably in 2007-8, so Skyline GT-R and Supra will be my top 2 choices. (Will Honda/Acura have something in that price range???)

Renntech Benz S600 TT baby
If that's out of the question, I'd go with the 2004 TL because, with the exception of the E55AMG and the S4, the other cars mentioned barely classify as upgrades unless you're talking about the price.

they are all too gd...but they cost twice as much as the TL....
i would be happy for the new TL as my daily driver~
i don't feel like driving a too high profile car around...say the M3 or E55...draws too much attention~
it's better to drive a sleeper~

Merc = overpriced
BMW = underwhelming
G35X = hot, maybe it's next
2005 Subaru Legacy GT = we'll see how the interior shapes up, supposed to be 250hp AWD woot!
B6 Audi S4 = too expensive but I doubt they'll hold value so maybe a used one
3rd gen TL = sweet but it would take VTM-4 to get me to buy another Acura sports sedan.

I want a beater. I will probably get an old chrysler convertible that I would not even care if I left the top down in the middle of a rain storm. I am tired of always washing a waxing for the look :-)
