unknown problem but fixed!

car has 168xxx miles and switched to full synthetic oil. my oil change was due so i went to pick up oil and saw a good deal on castrol syntec 5qts for $21.00. also changed the oil and air filter. crazy thing happened, after taking out the car from the garage when i pressed on the gas padel it was hard to press on, as it was stuck. i pressed little hard and rpms went to 2500 to 3000 and stayed there. i was like sh*t. then i called the mechanic and he jiggled the throttle body cables. it didn't helped, then he opened up the air filter that he installed. i don't know but he insert the cloth into the egr port if i am right! he then installed everything back and it came back to normal. also when he pulled the old filter out. he used the compressed air to clean the inside air filter housing. anyone know what had happened at that time or what caused that issue?

geez its only been a few hours on a saturday evening holiday shopping weekend,,and you want an immediate answer to an unclear situation??
ok here goes my best guess based on presented info

you dont shoot air into the airbox to clean it,,too easy to shoot something bad into the TB itself!!
that would cause running issue if the TB air plate is getting jammed at its pivot

use a shop vac for primary cleaning, and a damp rag if needed for stubborn dirt in corners

I have no idea what/where you think egr is?
Maybe he put a rag across the TB inlet so it sucked harder and pulled whatever debris thru the system
Danger in all this-- that piece of crud holding up the throttle went into the manifold- past an intake valve or 2 and expelled thru combustion

Live, and hopefully Learn

Note for all- the TB air plate needs routine cleaning with carb cleaner or TB cleaner spray
It gets crud from PCV and its pivot hinge gets tight/slow
Deep Creep- seafoam aerosol, works excellent to clean and leave behind a lube for this job

Remove air snout tube from TB to airbox
Look inside TB at round plate- use throttle return spring assembly to rotate plate open
Clean both sides and edges of it
wipe up runoff
start engine- will run rough as carb cleaner moves thru but will clear itself

lube and adjust/check the tension on the throttle cables. too. i once had a high idle and sticking gas petal and needed to take tension off the throttle cables. oil change had nothing to do with this, unless you had a shop do it and they messed with the TB cables. if you had a resent EGR port cleaning and had the IM & TB removed that could have changed the tension on the TB cables.thats how my cables got too tight, from taking the TB off and putting it back on, you need to check cable tension after reinstall!

Sounds more like he forgot the rag in the air box.
