Post Typo on Comptech Springs drop?

I was JUST about to order comptech springs from Tim, when I saw an anomoly on the advertised drop. The Comptech website said the drop was 1.25/1.0 but the one listed on Tim's site is 1.75/1.5. I don't really care which is right (since I'm buying them regardless) but I figure I should just point that out since the advertised drops don't match.

Hey edgalang,

I'm about to order the comptech springs also. I noticed you are in the Bay Area. Where do you plan to go for install? Have you called around? I looked at the FAQ on this site and there is self install instruction. Looks doable.

Also, are u planning on getting new shocks as well? I called Auto Innovations in Milpitas and they quoted me $250 for spring install and $60 for alignment. No extra charge for installing new struts.

250 more for springs? ouch!...when will it stop? I just wanted a drop and thats it. But as for installation goes...I have no clue. I was probably just gonna do it at my local shop in berkeley, but im not even sure if they're willing to do it. If you think it's possible to do it ourselves, heck...I'm up for the manual labor.

crap....just got off the phone with my trusted local mechanic and he basically refused to lower my car for me. Told me it was a "bad" idea. Now I guess I'm stuck paying high prices for someone else to do it for me.

Hey my mechanic friend told me not to do it. He said it will mess up the brand new car. He told me to go find a performance shop run by some high school kids to do it cheap. Otherwise he wanted to charge me a full day labor.

Keep me posted with your experience getting your TLS dropped. I would definitely be talking about it during the meet.

Interesting - your mechanic refuses to do it, my Acura dealer (Crown Acura) puts Comptech on my car before delivery, sends out a monthly newsletter promoting use of Comptech parts, and just lowered my TLS.

Ando so it goes....

Will the drop on the Type S ruin the suspension on the car? I had a 96 Accord Coupe dropped 1.5" and, although the ride was much more controlled, I was always scared of losing my stock shocks and just having an overall bumpier ride........

I lowered the TL-S myself in about an hour and a half. Used H&R race springs for the CL-S and it lowered the TL beautifully. Got the springs for $115 bucks brand spanking new. Best investment yet on the TL-S! RIMS.....here we come!

WOW! It looks like some shops found a way to get rich. The Acura flat rate guide for labor times indicates 1.6 hours for both front springs, and 1.6 for both rears. There is actually a shop that wants a "days labor" for 3.2 hours.....I'm in the wrong line of work!
