Spent some time today re-fitting the intake manifold from a 2003 CL TypeS.

I removed the fuel rails to see if in fact it would at least fit over the injector bases. Well IT FITS.

From what we've been able to gather, the 99TL has different injector bases and fuel rails than the 00-03 TL/CL/TLS/CLS. So my dumb luck I have the only model that won't accept the TypeS IM.

Well I have a TLP owner who is currently going through quite a car transformation and he had graciously offered to sell me his fuel rails and injector bases from his old engine.

Here's pics of the test fit. You'll notice that the fuel rails are moved out of the way.





Project continues. I need to buy a few more parts:

- Bypass valve acuator
- RPM switch
- Miscellaneous odds and ends

Well the parts should be in tomorrow. Hopefully I get some time this weekend to install everything and take it for a ride.

Probably not going to dyno it. I've still got a few more go-fast goodies to install so we'll just have to wait.

 

If you're in an 00-03 TLP, you should only have to buy:

Upper intake manifold
Bypass valve actuator

Now the issue comes with the lower intake manifold, AKA injector bases. The openings on the TLP are smaller than the TypeS upper IM so you'd have to bore them out to match.

The 99s won't work at all, so I went to $$$ way and just bought new ones and new gaskets.

Good luck finding all of this at a junkyard. Every one I spoke to said, only if you buy the entire engine.
