Unhappy type s gauges in the 99's

I put type s gauges in my 99 and the fuel and temp gauges dont work but the fuel light and other lights work. Does anybody else have the same problem?

I doubt it will work since both cars are different. The wiring on the clusters are different.

You can try swapping the gauges individually and putting them on your old cluster.

The same thing happenned on my old integra while putting in Type R gauge cluster. Did the same exact thing you mentioned.
Once I swapped the type R gauges to my old cluster, everything worked just fine.

Good Luck

what do you mean by they don't work? I am assuming that you are talking about the gauge overlays not the entire gauge cluster assembly. If they are inaccurate you can adjust the needles to match Full=full and cold=cold.

i read it in the forum or a magazine long ago that if you buy the type s gauges from the dealership that it'll plug right into the stock ones. That's what i did, but for some reason just the temp and gas gauge doesnt work. But where can you get the indiglo gauges for the TLs??

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am interested in putting in Type-S gauges in my '99 TL. I know the 4-spd vs. 5-spd transmission issue, but are there any other issues/facts I should know about from those who have tried it? Will it work, and if so, how? Would I need the entire Type-S cluster, or can I swap the three gauges on the existing '99 cluster?
Thanks in advance!

i know some people that put the indiglow gauges on the '99, and to solve the 4 speed/5 speed problem, they just cut the dividers on the gauge, but the type-s gauges are MAD $$$, like $300 i think it was when i checked...

I just called my dealer (Acura of Boston) and asked how much the Type-S gauges sell for brand new. The whole set of three costs just a little over $100. This is for just the three individual gauges (no cluster). I think this little mod might be worth my time and money.

Installing the indiglo faces is not too hard, just make sure the needles don't stick! IMO it's a good mod for all TL-P

So as far as I can see, no one has ever put actual Type-S gauges in their '99. Is this the case?
