I called one of the online salvage yards about a wrecked CL-S, and he said he would sell me the engine intact for $2500. From the look of the picture, it didn't look intact. But beyond the engine, what else will you have to change: ECU? Linkage?

That's a lot of money for 35 ponies. Why not just put in a nice intake and exhaust?

Wait a couple years and get the 300hp that is rumored to be coming.

any way you look at it, spending a few thousand for a TL-S engine is not worth it. no one knows how well it's going to work with other stock TL parts. TL-S has an improved fransmission, the electronics may be different. you might as well wait for comptech supercharger which will give you more than just 35 hourses.

6 grand... why not just trade in your TL and get a TL-S??? you get a newer car, memory seats, CD changers, all the goodies plus the engine you want, it's around there, too.

RED HOT TL,

I'm thinking along your lines too. Why go through all that trouble to salvage a Type S Engine. Just save your money, trade in your current ride and buy a real/genuine TL Type S.

It's facinating, what people will do to modify their cars, like buidling a FRANKENSTEIN TL.

yelp, cuz there were many ppl wanted to swap engine with RL (crazy dumb mofo...), CL-S, and TL-S. and I always thought just trade your car in for the car with the engine you want... save the trouble.

Hey Guys, is this possible? What other vehicular upgrades would have to be done and how much $$$ would it take to pull this off? I mean let's say someone gets lucky at the junk yard and....well you get the picture. At this point I'm sure Acura would say ohh no the the warrantee.

To have this done for real is a six grand job, which nets you a brand-new waranteed engine from Acura along with all the goodies.

The rest of your car will not be warranteed, though, b/c it was not designed to withstand the power. $6k doesn't look so bad when you look at I/H/E costing about half that if done at Acura...
