Question Type-S Engine Swap

Prolly a stupid question, but has anyone priced out how much it would be to swap parts out to turn a TL into a TL-S with Acura parts in an Acura shop???

I think mechanically it would be relatively straightforward...

The complication lies in the electronics of the whole bit. You have to find a way to actuate the dual stage intake runners, (IMRC) and things like the VSA sensor in front of the throttle body... IF you jack the Type S ecu then you pay another couple hunderd dollars for new keys as well, cause the chipped key info is with the ECU I believe... and there's also no guarantee that the wiring harness will hook up in the first place.

I'm down with that.

I'm considering trading my TL in for a brand new M3 when it comes out. I dunno, it all depends on how much it will be.... we'll see.

WAAAAAY to expensive to be viable. You'd likely lose less money if you traded your TL for a new TL-S and a really big bra for that ugly new front end

To change the engine to TL-S spec, you'd have to change the cams, valve springs, ummm little help here Einstein! Anyhow, a lot of crap. Just get a good intake, headers, maybe exhaust and wait for the cams that tim is having developed....you'll be faster than a TL-S.....especially if you invest in some light 18" wheels.
