Angry Type S ebony wood

Looking to purchase a new TL. I Would like White exterior with Black interior. This color combination is only available in the Type S. I don't mind spending the extra $2K for the Type S but the black wood trim in the Type S is fugly. Can the black wood trim be easily removed and replaced with standard wood grain? Is this something I could do myself or would the dealer have to do it? Where can I purchase the wood trim? Thanks for the help!

Did you see the blackwood in Lexus' Mark Levinson Stereo TV commercial. It was ugly there too.

Yes, it can be done and no, it is not that easy. I believe Tim, aka snook789 has done it.

It's a huge pain in the ass to remove the factory trim and to change it. I believe it's kind of expensive too, b/c no aftermarket companies make those factory trim piece rails. You'd have to get it through a dealer and it's almost like a special order since it's not like those pieces are part of an add on kit....

The blackwood will grow on ya.... I had an aftermarket woodtrim kit in my CL that was real wood, and the blackwood trim that's in the TL gets about 50 times more compliments then the wood. Either way it's all fake, so I don't mind the blackwood b/c it's different.

The only way to do this is to find someone who has the wood grain interior and trade with them. You cannot buy the door panel pieces.

Where do you live? I would consider trading with you. I think it would be cool to be one of the only 99 TLs with blackwood trim.

Hey sandy, I have a white diamond pearl TLS with ebony interior, just like you want, and the black wood grows on you..I wasn't too happy with it at first, I thought it looked a little tacky, but now I really think it accents the interior well..Trust me, dont bother wasting your money buying and installing the other fake plastic wood that acura has, if anything, get the cool brushed aluminun trim that comes on the new CLS 6-speed.

Ugly is ugly, I don't care if the wood is real or fake. Personally I like the black wood look, but then again my whole home is decorated ultra-modern so I guess I go for that...
