Yes , you definately have to move up on the gas . Only 91 is recommended for our cars ...

I ONLY fill up 93... that's the way to go... I dunno about others, but I personally can feel the difference in the car when a lower grade of gas is filled.

My cars only seen 94.

I also notice a difference in performance with lower octane gas.

the car requires 91 or 93-94 if thats what they sell in your area
Since its been run on 87 there will be excess carbon loading of the valves and pistons!

Throw a can of seafoam in 1/2 tank gas and another can in the intake main vac port at the TB connection to intake manifold- see DIY section
Will clean all the crud out and restore like new performance~
Probably needs new sparkplugs too- NGK Iridium or NGK Iridium IX
87 is a killer on high compression engine- yes the computer will compensate by retarding timing- leading to other problems

Yes, use 91. There is no reason not to use it. It costs you all of 2 bucks or less more to use it and is what the car was designed to use.

Also the quarter was 15's and you wont achieve those numbers with 87

should i seafoam before i put in the better gas?
also, can i just add it in, or would them mixing somehow hurt the engine?

-max seafoam use for driving method is: 2 ounces per gallon of gas (more is not more effective- per seafoam)
thats 1 can to just under 1/2 tank

may want to repeat that in a month, and/or do the intake vac method twice as well- then good for a year
very simple DIY and acts instantly, while gas method takes days

you still need to do the gas method to clean fuel sprayers from the inside even if you do the intake vac

This explains my situation. Ive had the car for only like a year and a half, but my parents never filled 91. 89 for the first couple years and then 87. And they have me fill 87 too. Ive ran dynolicious on my iphone, the best ive gotten is 8.2 seconds. I have a 00tl, with 165,000 miles and its stock. Tires may also slow it down, I dunno really how my tires are compared to others. I have fuzion HRi. But my tl should be doing mid 7's if it was brand new/stock. So im a ltl off.

the gas you're using probably isn't helping when you're at max load like an acceleration run

seafoam is available at most parts stores- walmart etc
8-10 bucks a can
Please dont use more than 2 ounces per gallon of gas - throwing away your money.
thats 1 can in 1/2 tank!

yeah geneally the further you go west the more often you only see 91 as the highest, but there is a place right near me that does sell 100 octane street legal gas, but the next place that sells that, is like a 100 miles away, so not really readily available

also the altitude sucks for actually making power (we are down like 15-20% on HP here [a mile high])
