Hi All, I read through the forums and it looks like the headlight bulb replacement issues was already thoroughly covered. One part I am not clean on:

My passenger side low bean is out. Assuming its just the bulb, how important is it to change the bulb on both the driver and passenger side at the same time? I know that it is preferable to do both, but this car is already almost 9 years old (2001) and I want to avoid spending $100 on a working light bulb. Thanks

 

you can buy pairs of bulbs for around $50 on the internet... you will d2r bulbs

 

I looked around, couldn't find HID bulbs for under $100...do you know of a good site?

 

check ebay....put in D2R in the search and go with Phillips....our vendor here Excelerate sells the Kaixen and thats another good brand....its also important to change both of them becuz one bulb will be much brighter than the other one

i saw single bulbs for 35 bucks on the first page i searched.

of course i would go with a known brand, but still like mentioned.. you can find pairs for 50.

those bulbs are normally WAY overpriced. which is why you can find them so cheap online

I changed my original 4300k D2R bulbs with 4300k D2R Phillips bulbs I bought from eBay for $80 shipped last March. I remember when I replaced the first one that I turned on the headlights on to check if I installed it correctly and there was a big difference between the brightness of the new vs. that of the old.

 

Thanks a lot guys!... Now comes the fun part, figuring out it the bulb is the problem and replacing it.

 

if you get pink tint on startup of light- thats the death warning
So is flikker or sudden drop in brightness
Most of the 2000 -2003 cars have 2500-3000 hours on the bulbs now and its getting to failure time
Its not a waste of money to be able to see like you cant believe!!

4300k is stock color, 5000k more blue with good white on road- 6000k is more blue less white,,anything higher is really hard to see stuff on the road

 

If you get moisture inside the headlight lens, you must fix that soon and replace the bulbs after

 

Always replace bulbs in pairs. Even standard halogen.

 

i will be getting 6000k for my low beams, i suggest to do the same

 

I have 6000 and wish I had gotten the 5000s as planned, but somehow had 6 on the brain when placing order and mistyped--doh~

More useable light on the road surface is important

 

replace bulbs in pairs goes for brake lights and turn signal bulbs too--
the TL will last about a month before the other side brake light goes out and you have to repeat the inner trunk panel loosening

Replace the 4 brake-turn bulbs at one time and be done with,, it is my opine

 

i kinna like that my bulbs are offset in the headlights as far as when they were installed... it saves money when one burns out. i have a 3 yr. old bulb and a 5 month old bulb.. when the old one burns up.. 40 bucks. 10 min. job. done
