Is it the Check engine light or Maintenance required light?

I cant remember exactly, but it tells you in the owners manual. Also like fsttyms1 said, do you need maintenance?

Each are a different light and mean something completely different

If its really the Check Engine- that means something is wrong with the car and you need to go to a parts store that will pull the engine computer codes for you.
If its ready for an inspection- thats usually the time it needs an O2 sensor or EGR cleaned!

you can disconnect the battery for a few minutes to clear codes. but it your in an emissions area were they analyze 5 gas and check you computer, your monitors will not set if you have an engine or drivability conern still present therefore not letting you pass your state inspection.

If there is a problem with something(which there is if your getting a code) you can reset it but it will come right back and most likely show up on any test done. Get the parts fixed first.

Clean out your EGR and reset the computer to see if the light comes back on.

The easier way is to pull the clock backup fuse on the passenger side dash fuse panel for a few min.

Also we still need to know if this is a smog test or basic visual inspection?
Of course do as kris said and replace the bad parts.
You also need to drive a day or 2- like 100 miles to get all the parts cleaned out (use Seafoam) due to bad O2 sensor, and get the computer to decide all is well.
Then go for testing and pass no prob
