Turbo Beetle!

Turbo Beetle!
I was wondering if any of you racers out there ever ran with a turbo Beetle. There was one in front of me at a stop sign today and it took me a little while to realize that he was running hard. I had my car in full auto mode and was talking on the phone. I gunned it and the car downshifted to first, but I didn't gain on him like I thought I would. I'm almost ashamed to say that I was barely getting any closer. I checked out the Volkswagen site, and the new "Turbo S" beetle has a 180 hp 1.8L engine while the regular 1.8L turbo has 150 hp. What's up with that??? I have no idea if the beetle was modded, but I was wishing I had all the performance parts ever made (or in the works) for the TL!

It looks like the 5 speed manual is about 7.3 from 0 to 60.

Keep in mind that it's the 1.8T we are talking about... the 1.8T is considered one of the best engine from Audi/VW, very refined for a 4-cylinder engine, and very refined for a turbo-charged engine as well.... and as Audi TT shares the the platform/engine setup as Beetle Turbo S(minus AWD on Beetle, of course), in theory, any mods for 180HP(or even 225HP version) Audi TT should be direct bolt-on on Beetle Turbo.... I wouldn't be surprise if any of you seeing a Beetle Turbo S gaining up on you in your rear-view mirrors....
