Hello all,

This is only a minor check. If you have time, you
may try it at home tonight and give me some feedback

When you use your remote to open the trunk, do
you hear 2 sounds? One is a quiet 'click' , then a
quiet 'chunk' sound about 1/2 sec later.

The reason I asked is that dealer has done something
on my trunk lib and possibly the trunk remote unlock unit
for the trunk lib alignment job yesterday.
Now I found that the
remote trunk unlock unit is awefully loud when I
open it with my remote. You hear 1st quiet sound
of 'click' (that's normal), then 2nd very loud sound of
'ping' (that's abnormal). Before they worked on it,
the 2nd sound is as quiet as the first 'click' sound,
now it's like 'pinging' on trunk's sheetmetal. Well they
insist it's normal since it is working.

Well the lock is still working fine. Perhaps I am
just too picky. If you can give me some feedback
on your trunk remote unlock unit sounds, I appreciate
it.

I think it's just the actuator (sp?) moving back to release the trunk latch and then moving back to it's normal position.

Mine does the same.

Does the 2nd 'ping/chunk' sound sounds very
loud compared to the 1st 'click' sound? Does it
sound like something hitting the sheetmetal?

If so, I guess I am just over-picky and over-supicous.

No its a dull thud, the second sound is definately the more pronounced of the two sounds, but there isn't any ping sound, more of a 'chunk' sound.

Why don't you meet up with some of the Bay Area folks on the 8th of Sept.. then you can compare all you want.

Maybe it sounded different before cause it was not aligned properly. Now is sounds like it should.
