Trouble starting car 99tl, here are the symptoms in detail. Who can diagnos this one?
-Turn the key, you can hear the first stage of the process of the car trying to start (pressing on the gas petal does nothing, its not even a factor at this point b/c nothing else is happening besides wearing the starter out.
-It's as if there is no spark or something to EVEN start to get you to a point where you can then attempt to give it some gas to try and get the car to a roaring start.
After multiple multiple attempts turning the key nothing happens. I dont want to sit there and keep doing that and wear the starter down so if you let the car sit for a few HOURS and try again most of the time it will start.
-If the temperature is very hot outside and car is sitting in the heat it seems this intermitent problem happens more often?
-Everytime I check the cars inside and outside lights they are on strong/bright so it is not the battery.
-I replaced the ignition switch 1-2 years ago so that is working properly, engine would not stay on, car would suddenly cut off with no idle. That went away promptly once fixed.
-Now once car IS running the good thing is that it will stay on for as long as you need to drive. Not really and problems once car is actually on.
MY GUESS - spark plugs at least 10 years old with at least 160,000 miles on them, could possibly be original ones?
OR it could be something considering it is showing code p0401 egr insufficient flow, intake could probably use a good cleaning BUT not sure if that would cause this type of starting problem?????
I know alot of you guys are super smart on this forum, that is why I come here. Appreciate your feedback very much!!!!!!!

hahahaha Why would you press the Gas Pedal at Ignition anyway? Its fuel Injected Dude! Gas Pedal does nothing in this car unless the engine is already started.
Now a very Obvious point here is: Have you check that your Key Signal is getting read by the Ignition? Look for a Green Key on dashboard it must blink and then go off. If it stays on then you have a problem with your key.

Try the obvious interlocks as Skirmich previously suggested. Download a copy of the factory service manual for more detailed info on diagnosing your issue.
If ya been on the site for awhile, ya know the general "DIY"s and basic common problem areas by now. Nothing a few keystrokes won't get ya in the way of basic help from experienced previous threads.
Ya got a gut feeling, you're guessin' it's the plugs or egr cleaning.....a good place to start if ya have not already done so at over 160k on the dial. What, have ya tried besides the ignition switch ? Gotta get into it !
Ya gotta do some research and think out of the circle a bit when doing DIY's !!!

in general on cars with this problem: while the starter is turning spray some starter fluid into the air intake snorkel. If the engine starts running momentarily then you know you have a fuel delivery problem... maybe a relay or the fuel pump....

Yeah, ya gotta figure out if it's electrical or fuel related. But, check all of the interlocks first !

Could be the dreaded heat soak that plagues the accord more often than a TL. But, it does happen. Meaning the fuel is boiling in the rail and nothing is being pumped into the injectors. You could try to open your gas cap, and see if that helps. Especially if its really hot out.

actually tried that before with mixed results, thing is though this non starting happens it seems a bit more when it is hot out it still happens at times in fair or colder weather. So I doubt it is that.
Thanks for the post though

If ya did everything previously suggested, and had the electrical/starting system load tested along with a fuel pressure check, then ya may need a pro ! Could be a gremlin within the interlocks, possibly a wiring issue, a faulty relay or solenoid ?
You could attempt to bypass the electrical sub-components and directly jumper power to the starter's solenoid. But beware, this is not a recommended procedure unless you feel totally competent enough to realize what you're dealing with ! CAUTION !!!!!
It could potentially be dangerous and incur harm to yourself and/or the car if done improperly.

Ha nice animation, it's always best to be informed before just dropping your car off to a mechanic and say can you figure it out? Probably take it in the next few days so I am trying to get ALL THE FEEDBACK I can from yal!
THANKS my fellow ziner's

So what have ya actually tried up to this point ?

good question. With this new knowledge and help from my new buddy on here's video he made regarding this. I am honing in on the immobilizer, resetting the keys, etc something along those lines.
What site(S) 3.2 (or anyone else wanting to help) would you go to, to buy a new immobilizer?
