Yes I use valvoline MaxLife synthetic ATF. It's dexron III(3) so it's all good. About 10,000 miles ago I bought 6 quarts of the maxlife ATF and used 3 to flush and the last 3 I left in there. I noticed smoother shifts from the ATF immediately and have been very happy with it. I kinda wish I would have got it flushed completely but it wasn't worth it to me to spend the $130 at the dealer for the flush. I checked my tranny fluid at the gas station a couple days ago and its still pink as.... ahem... well you know

Don't worry about the dealer, it's not like the acura dealer can tell one pink/red fluid from another... what are they gonna do, taste test it?? LOL Just make sure it's Dexron III not Dexron II(2). Dexron II is for older model trucks and stuff.

the tip here is to replace the fluid completely with Dexron, or continue topping up with Honda's ATF. DON'T MIX. They have different densities though they may both be pink. I learnt that the hard way on my 92 Accord.

Just about every major company will tell you stick with Honda's ATF. It's a propriatary formula. Even Redline--probably the most recognizable name in aftermarket performance fluids--says don't use their product in the Honda/Acura trannies that require the Honda Z1 fluid.

I also stuck with the Honda Z1. I use synthetics whenever possible and was going to do the same in my TL until I spoke with the techs at Redline. On the other side of the coin, Comptech has been running Redline fluid in some of their cars without any issues so far.
