Transmission Extended Warranty
I currently have about 78,000 miles on my car and I know Acura has extended their warranty to 100,000 miles on my '99 TL. Will they change the transmission even though the transmission if fine at the moment or will they deny it? I just don't want to get into a situation where my transmission dies right after the warranty.
Also, if they do proceed with it, are Acura dealer required to give out loaners?
Thanks,
JQ.

I sold my car with the 3rd tranny in it at 83000 miles. I did not want to deal with a new 5000 tranny, the 105,000 service, and new brakes all around within a year so I traded it in.
I would say to make sure you have the tranny checkedout before the warranty is up and then cross your fingers. I would have run my acura to the gound, but the idea of putting in over 6000 into it did not sit well with me...

They won't be able to replace it under warranty if nothing is wrong with the transmission. I work at a dealership so I ran into customers asking for the same thing regarding honda accords and odysseys. The reason being is that each transmission replaced will need to returned to American Honda for analysis and if they find out nothing is wrong with the transmission, the dealership won't get paid for it so they won't replace it because you ask them too. Its a lot of paper work too.

4 speed trannys on the 99's dont have the problems that the 5 speed on the 00 & up have. Very , very few had issues. The likely hood of the tranny going in your 99 is very slim.

I bought my 02 TL-S with 70K miles on it back in Nov 04, right now the odo reads 96K. I love the car but am thinking about either selling it or trading it in for another beater . For now i am thinking either a 04 Maxima, my last 98 maxima had 250K miles before it got totalled, Infiniti G35, or the new IS350, lets see what happens. Man i love this car but hate to let it go just because of the freaking tranny .
