Welcome jdmzee26!

Good choice not repairing your current transmission again. Give a few salvage yards a call and not only get some pricing but also ask if they can install the Av6 for you also.

Get a AAA membership or see if anyone in your family already has one and have them tow it then. Their Premier membership gets you like 3 tows of up to 100 miles each every year.

Couple of things.

~Some insurance companies cover tows
~40 miles might equal a couple of hundred bucks.
~Driving in limp mode means you probably can`t go over 25 mph. which also means if it decides to take a dump on you still need to get a tow.

Note: The safest and best way to get it done is to have it towed. Towing plus 1500 installed is well worth it IMO.

Also forgot, maybe the salvage company can also help you out with towing, maybe even incorporating it in to the price.

Ya could attempt to do the last drive to the shop if you're feeling brave and have someone to follow ya along the way. But, just ask the shop if they could send out a tow truck and save yourself some potential grief.

$1500 for the "AV6" donor installed is a good price. Make sure that ya read up previous threads concerning the other miscellaneous things that may be best done at the time while the shop is replacing the dead tranny.
