Transmission for 2002 3.2TL non-Type S

Does anyone know if a transmission from a

2001 Acura 3.2CL Type-S (5-speed)

will fit my

2002 Acura 3.2TL non-Type S (5-speed)?

I have been a victim of Acura's faulty Transmission nightmare... life goes on...

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the transmissions are interchageable but how many miles are on your TL?

As long as it doesn't have a salvage title and it has less than 109,000 miles it should be covered under the extended warranty.

And even if your TL is over 109,000 miles Acura has been known to offer goodwill coverage for some of all of the replacement costs.

See the "Tranny Failure Thread" for more details:

Good luck.

Dont worry about what the 800 number said- they are trained to deny everything-
and not even car people work there!!!
Go in person to the dealer SERVICE MANAGER- no one else
Ask for some help with the cost, you love your TL, you belong to acurazine and they say acura is hooking people up....

For example- read thread by phee with a 99TL- past time limits- and the dealer picked up 90 percent of the trans cost- they are a $4000 job installed, normally
You may get a deal like: you pay labor of 4 hours only and acura picks up the trans
This is a good chuck of change to most people- fight for it rather than trusting a junkyard trans
Trust your aziner friends who have been getting replacements out of waaranty limits to lead you to a new unit ~

NO
the big exclusion is for salvage title cars
No warranty of any system of any type on the car once declared salvage-
that means SCRAP and made into beer can again, as far as acura is concerned

I'm amazed that Phee got it fixed at the Nalley Acura. I've been there before for my 105K service... it sure is a small world. Do hopefully they will hook me up as well.

The key is to be nice, dont be hot headed. In not so many words, let them know you are aware of the huge trans problem acura has, and that they are replacing them for many owners beyond waranty.

You have already been to a certain dealer and paid good money to them for a big service, that s called establishing a relationship
They can afford to work with you and Acura on a solution. It doesnt cost the dealer money to do a warranty for you- Acura pays them

The SERVICE MANAGER is the ONLY person you want to speak with
Service Writers are also trained to say its out of warranty,
while a MANAGER is well....a manager
