Hey guys im in the process (or about to start) of removing the 5at from my 01 tl. ive gone through the removal section of the factory service manual like every 2hrs for the last couple days. i notice it recommends removing the front sum frame from the car and and lowering the trans out of the bay. im trying to attempt this by removing as little parts as possible and was wondering if i could just lift the trans out of the bay? (i have a hoist)

basically im just asking your guy's opinions on this and if you have removed the trans before how you did, what do you think is the best method to removing it etc.

 

no--it comes out the bottem

 

No, remove the subframe support the motor with a jack and a block of wood. and use the hoist to lower the trans down. (its VERY heavy)
