Trans

Hello,

Today is my one year anniversary since I bought my 03 TL (Anthracite/Ebony) - and I had transmission replaced in August.

I used Acura Owners Link and checked recalls for my car, and it said the A/T transmission recall was fixed. However, I took the car in for an oil change and the the tech took it for a ride and said transmission was going out and they replaced it.

Now, on Wikipedia it says the transmissions replaced after May 2005 don't have problems anymore because they started installing completely re-designed ones.

My question is, can I expect reliability out this transmission now that the certified warranty expired? I bought the car because I loved the look and the way it drove and later found out about the big transmission problem but that wouldn't have changed my mind, I was in love...

So, what can I expect out this transmission. I should note that it feels just a bit slower then it was with the original....

acura.com only has partial info- also register with them at 1-800-382-2238 x5 where a human will tell you more about SRS warranty and things like that

the recall was one issue
the trans failure is from a different part inside the trans.
Replacement units these days are doing very well, with the occassional person who destroys everything they touch, or the bad part that got past quality control-
even then- the trans itself has a warranty.
Dont worry if it ever does go out- we can get you covered no problem- with replacement already- no question! so drive and enjoy

It will feel slower as you break it in like a new engine- first 500 miles no racing- no redline.
500-1000 use it more normally and test that it does work to extreme- Full throttle runs.
After 1000 miles all should be ready to go~
here is the owner manual online if you need
