Tranny question

'02 TLS 157k miles. Tranny replaced at 37k miles.

When I'm in D5, there is some occasional bucking during normal acceleration going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. That scares me.. but when I'm in D4, I don't get that bucking.

Should I just stay in D4 unless I'm on the highway?

i got a 2000 with rebuilt trans at around 90k miles and mine will do that at times as well. i replaced the trans fluid and it seemed to stop doin it as often as it dis but i seriously think its the motor mounts cause my last car did that at times as well. the motor mounts were worn on it. and since the transmission was rebuilt the mechanics may not have replaced it 100% correctly back in the bay

Baby your tranny, look into a cooler, and don't go hard on hot days. Trust me, I had only minor issues, 38000 miles, and i'm looking at a roasted trans now after one hot run. You guys won't believe what the dealer quoted for replacement of the trans and ECU.

I would make sure the dealership got in touch with Acura and see what they say about helping you out with the replacement cost.I had read on here that Acura is willing to work with people on the cost of these transmissions.I just got my first(and hopefully last)transmission changed out in my 02 TL-P last week.My car has a little over 50K miles on it and was out of the extended tranny warranty by about 2 years. The dealership quoted me 4K for a new one. They got in touch with Acura, who offered to pay 75% of the cost.I jumped at that offer, especially when I found out I get a 3 year,36K mile warranty on it.I ended up paying $1,380 including tranny, ecu, tax and a replacement engine mount they found bad while pulling the tranny from my car.Depending on what the dealership says, you might even get a second quote from another dealership if available.Since your car is even newer and lower mileage than mine,I'd have to believe you can get a similar deal from them.Good luck.

It may be. It averages between 2.7 and 3.2 quarts on average that comes out.

trans cooler will not help as the fluid gets hotter than 315F during 2-3 shift
