We already had a poll on this. It seems that everytime this question is asked it points to the 2002 models that were manufactured in Spring of 2001. Contaminated transmission fluid...

There was also a post about VIN numbers that reflected upon the failures. Too bad the search option is disabled for Free-members.

Let's see if anyone finds a link, I'd also like to compare my VIN number

there have been several cases of 99's losing their trannys also. i dont think this problem belongs solely to the 02's.

I'm sure this question has been brought up before, but since the search function has been disabled for us "free" members...

What are the early symptoms/signs of a bad TL tranny??? I'm curious because my '99 TL has recently started producing harsh and very jerky downshifts... is this normal? or is this a sign of a tranny going bad?

Any input is very much appreciated.
