Tranny fluid type?

Hi guys, I'm going to do the 60k service on my wife's TLS. Going to change the oil/filter, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, and flush the brakefluid. (maybe even plugs)

I also want to change the transmission fluid. What kind of fluid should I use? Use OEM acura/honda fluid? What weight should I be using? Can I use redline fluids?

Did I miss anything on my 60k service?

Thanks!

I would stick with Honda ATF or amsoil synthetic. BE prepared to buy atleast 12 qts. (drain fill 3 times+)

use the Honda ATF fluid. get at least 6 quarts (9 would be best) and do a drain/fill. you can only get out 3 at a time.

you wont change the fuel filter - I believe it is in the gas tank and only needs replaced if something really goes wrong. Everything else looks good, the stock plugs should be fine till 100k miles but you can replace them if you want. NGK Iridium plugs are very good and cost less than stock ones from the dealer.

Ok, it looks like i'll go with OEM Acura/Honda tranny fluid then.

As for the plugs, I'm debating at this point. I get a "cold start misfire" in the mornings in the car usually. The dealer says "nothing is wrong" because nothing shows up on their OBD2 check. But when it's first started in the AM (after getting home at nite), the car fires up fine, and backs out the garage fine. It's when I get to the first stopsign (probaly 150 yards away), and stop. The car misses. One thing I noticed about this car is that it doens't really have a "cold start fast idle" like other cars.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

OOPS i did my math wrong I ment atleast 9qts

as for cold idle, when its cold mine idles 500+ higher than when its warm, You could try changing the plugs, its possible it will help, but you wont know till you change them. It could also be a coilpack, or possibly a motormount.

I would be really pissed if it was the coilpack! I had complained to the dealer when the car was under warranty. They said they couldn't find anything. If it is infact that problem, I'm going to raise holyhell with corporate.

I don't think it would be a motormount if it only happened at coldstart. Plus I can tell a misfire from a bad mount.

Any ideas on how to check the coilpack?

Since we on the topics of tranny oil change, it is something i am planning to do also. but at about 54k should i wait? Also , i am still thinking if I should take it to dealer or a shop. Doing it myself is out of the question since i live in a building and working on your car is a ticket around here. Not to mention my lack of knowledge in doing it and fear of breaking something.

Well i wouldnt raise hell with corprate, that wont get you any thing fixed, Plus its not thier fault. If the thing isnt acting up when a mechanic is looking at it its hard to diagnose whats wrong. There are a lot of things it could be, Id start with the plugs.
oh and our vacum assisisted motor mounts can cause a rough idle.

If it hasnt been done do it soon. Id check to see what color the fluid is. If its dark in color id bring it to the dealer and point that out to them.
