Tranny is DONE
Finally my tranny gave up on me.
Damn it. I am going to get the new one installed on the coming wednesday.
Those of you who read my posts, I finally decided to do it with the dealer.
The total cost will be around $2700 including tax. It's not cheap, but I guess it's
the best deal I can get.
I am hearing good things about the new tranny so I hope this new one lasts for
long time, at least 3-4 years. Any comments on the new tranny??

If its being done at the dealer- its got the newest best everything- including the case itself.
Drive it nice for 600-1200 kms, no racing, no track days-
ok to rev thru the range sometimes and use SS to make sure everything is allright.
Break it in like a new engine and it will repay you in lifespan
If a defect part happens to be there, it usually shows in the first month and warranty installs another fresh rebuilt unit for you
Did you get 1-2 or 3 years warranty with the deal?
thats normally included but you have to make sure exactly what you get.
Having a new trans is like 1/2 a new car.
Do a seafoam treatment to the engine, maybe replace the spark plugs,
get out the claybar and wax.., and its like new
My neighbor is certain my car is 2 years old max- and its an 01
(sound of doorbell) yeah! dhl just brought my Tein SS
fully assembled courtesy of MrHeelToe
guess what I am doing Saturday!!!!!

$2700 is pretty reasonable if you were were way out of the warranty coverage.
What year is your TL and how many miles before the transmission failed?

I talked to the CR guy and the dealer, but either of them know about the 1-2 or 3 three year warranty with the every $1000. I guess it's the US warranty deal, not exist in Canada. That sucks.

Well thats a lesson to all that if you suspect trans probs- get it to the dealer.
Even if they cant duplicate it- it goes in the records and when trans does finally die,
you get better treatment over miles/time limits.
2700 is still a good price- what warranty are they offering?
Even the replacement freebies in the US get 12 month 10k miles plus whatever is left of your 7/109
NOT surprising that members with 03s have problems- they didnt really get a fix on it until 05, even gen3 cars are having problems now

hey I just went to Richmond Acura today (for regular maintenance of my car) and talked to the guy there (Andy Wong). I asked him about the tranny issue. Then he entered my VIN into the system and found that I am covered until 175000km/93 months. You probably should pay them a visit before you pay $2700!

$2700 is a really good deal. The trans cost me about $2400 alone, +11 hrs of labor I think, at 120/hr

YES, I know about the extened warranty which is 175,000km/93months. But that does not apply to late 2003 models. I think it is totaly BS but that's what Acura is saying. I did talk to other dealers, but the person making decision is not the dealer, it's the customer relations. I talked to customer relations many times, but they are not going to pay for any more than $1500.
Obviously I don't want to pay $2700 but have no other choice other than selling it for dirt cheap and buy new one. But right now I am gonna save up some money for better things.
