Tranny died in loaner car

My 03 TL-S is off warranty as of 8/20 so I brought it in on Friday for its last service. They gave me a 01 TL with 64k miles as a loaner. Not a bad car. My wife and I used it for 6 days and put a few hundred miles on it. I take it back tonight and hit the gas station accross from the dealer before I bring it back. As I pulled out of the station the RPM's redline and the car doesn't move (It was in D4). Lights start blinking. I limp accross the road to the dealership, park it in the lot and they ask "how was your loaner car?". I said it was great until the tranny just went. They asked which car. I said the TL. The guy rolled his eyes and said OK I guess we'll replace the tranny tomorrow. Now I'm worried about mine. Pretty shitty feeling merging into 65 mph traffic and the tranny taking a dump. I think my buddy that was with me took a dump in his shorts

When I got a loaner from my dealer, I always got a TSX or a new TL.

i would have demanded a newer car.... its in the dealerships best interest to try to put you in a newer car so that maybe you would be inclined to buy one...

That's the way it should be. They need to learn how to do marketing. Acura appears to be very independent, rather than Acura as a whole big company. every acura dealer just does its own things and careless whatever customers think.

No. the recall was to add a part to the tranny, not the replacement of it. And if its salvaged, they most likely wont do it under any type of warranty as they legally dont have to. Your kinda sol if it does go

They could put me in the Starship Enterprise and I still wouldn't buy another Acura. I admire you loyal Acura guys but this is my first and last. I know all cars have problems but I'm eyeing the Infiniti M35 and seriously thinking about trading in the TL-S. I planned on keeping it long term but 4 years and 40 k miles and its time to move on.

IMO, if you put the tranny issue aside, TL is a very impressive car overall, including luxury, performance, and costs. I have driven lexus, Infi Q35, 300z, and acura TL is an outstanding car. My cousin has a G35. I tested it, it is nice, but not really for a everyday, comfortable, commute car. But, I have to agree with you, something new is always enjoyable.

My friend has an M35 and always wants to drive my car because he loves the styling of it so much. He bought the M for the AWD and he fell in love with all the cameras and interior.

Geez. What bad luck! At first I thought you were going to say it was the tranny in an '04+ because that's what they usually give for loaner cars at the dealerships I've been to.

I was trying to cross a 3 lane road with headlights coming at me at about 65 mph. My juice-bag buddy was in the passenger seat and I think he shit himself Thank God reverse worked. I'm just happy my son wasn't in the car because he was supposed to take a ride but I decided to leave him home at the last minute.
