tranny dead? Maybe?

Well yesterday I was on my way to school and i noticed that once I took my foot off the gas my car started to jerk on me. It would slow down, then kick me up, I looked at my rpms and they'd go from a low 1.2k to a high 6.3k (atleast). I was scared to death since I was on the freeway and I had to pull off to the side, only to have my car not budge an inch. I'd push the gas and my rpm's would go up, but no movement physically.

So I took it to autozone just for a regular machine check and he said it could be my torque converter or a sensor. I took it to a shop where the guy specializes in trannys and he said my tranny died out.

I've took my TL-S to him before and he went through 3power steering pumps on my car until I took it to someone else (it just didn't have honda power steering oil) -.- So i don't know if I should trust his judgement on a broken tranny when the night before she was riding perfectly and my car drove for roughly 20miles on the freeway until it randomly started jerking.

The only way I could drive was to turn the car off and drive until it'd start jerking again and having my rpm's go high and the gas not making the car move.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Yea the trans is toast dude. Consider a Honda accord trans from a 2006 V6 accord. Either that or the 6MT swap. A rebuild or swapping the same trans will eventually end up the same way.

Are there any codes on the dashboard? CEL, TCS (yellow triangle), D5 flashing? Pull the codes first and post them.

Transmission is not necessary dead. Perform the drain and fill and see if she lives after it. Drain the transmission fluid and refill with genuine DW-1 fluid. Perform the drain and fill 3x times. You will need 10-11 bottles of the fluid from the dealer. Each time you drain the fluid you will need about 3.5 quarts to fill it up. After each drain and fill, take a 15 minute drive. Also check and clean solenoid screens. If none of this works, then it is done.

Well the tranny oil isn't burnt at all or anything.

Well I guess I'll do a trans swap, what's the best car to get the trans from? With the least amount of problems to install so my mechanic doesn't charge me more.

So my best bet for durability is an Av6 tranny? I was looking for a 6speed but I think anything that will last me for years sounds a lot better.

Like Said before AV6 or Odyssey Trans will work.. 2006+ to be sure 06 or 07 Works... Thats the most available Cars on junkyards you can also use the Standard 3G TL Transmission but those are hard to find on junkyards.

And Manual would last a shit ton if you get an Aftermarket Clutch like a Stage 2 or something of the sorts (Dunno if they are Available).. It will be harsh but it will outlast the OEM Clutch like crazy.

BUT Doing Manual in the First Place its VERY Expensive thus: AUTO!

Yeah I wanted to do the manual conversion, but money is a factor

Which would you choose? The AV6 trans or the Ody trans

Check locally for either,..... the '06>'07 Accord V6 5 speed AT should be easier to locate. Look over the car it was pulled from to see how bad it was wrecked. Also, it's best to get the lowest mileage possible.

Delivery will be cheaper and the yard may take your old tranny on trade. They should be able to help you find an installer if you're not doing the swap yourself.
