Too much oil?

Too much oil?
I changed my oil this weekend and put in almost a half quart too much. Is it really that bad to overfill the engine a little?

I always put a full 5 quarts in during an oil change, not sure how much extra that is but doesn't cause any issues, and the car uses a quart over 3k miles or so anyway.
