TLS vs MUSTANG 2002? GT and COP!!!!

I was on my way to blockbuster to get a movie, when i drove up to a stop light and this yellow mustange gt was sitting there with two guys in it. it was a new model maybe a 2001 or 2002, idont know, but they looked over at and i rolled my window down, and they were like sweet ride (2002 tls black on black with yellow fogs..) they said you up to a little run down the rode, i laughed, rolled my window up and the light was about to turn green and i noticed this car pulling up behind us slowly. I always check the cars around when im about to do a run, well this jacka## in his mustang is in the next lane to me was reving his engine, and indeed the car pulling up behind him was a cop. i saw him pull up behind this mustang. I tried to get the guys attention but he was probably focusing on the race ahead of him cause he saw the Type S on the back!!! HAHAHAH. anyways, light turns green and he balls out. i Just sit there laughing my ass off, because obviously he didnt see this cop pull up behind him. well he took off and the cop pull off with him, im still sitting there laughing. so i followed them to see what happens. indeed he got pulled over about a mile down the rode. He floored it up to maybe like 70 in a 45, so hes up for a little or maybe a reckless ticket, i felt bad cause i tried to get his attention but he didnt look over prob cause he was scared to get burnt!! so anyways i got my movie, and im about to watch it!!! lesson learned, if your gonna race, look behind you to see if there is a cop. what a dumba##
i think i could of kept up with the gt tho?

If he launched right he would have left you at the line.
Yeah, I try to be aware of my surroundings when I am driving at a quicker than legal pace. If you use common sense, you can avoid a lot of trouble. I can understand this guy concentrating on the race, but if you are sitting at a light it only makes sense to check the cars around you.

Not to mention green doesn't always mean go Check for people blowing the red light too. That's pretty funny about the 'stang though! Guess it takes all your concentration to handle all that American beef!

One time I turned left on red. Well, it was still yellow and I kind of hesitated. Then my wife all of a sudden said "Go". So I went at the same moment when the light changed to red. I had seen this white car behind me before I went, but did not think anything of it. It turned out to be a cop who pulled me over right away and gave me a ticket. He must have thought I was doing it on purpose.

Man..some people..he he...
Street racing is fun once in a while..but risky. That 'stang owner should be more aware of his surrounding, that's for sure! I always look around before doing anything that might get me into trouble. I bet that guy was all showoff and not much else.
It might come down to the driver as for who would win...if his car was stock you'd definitely have a chance...but if he spun off the line, you'd get him...but then he'll catch up...

You said he was already at the light when you pulled up. I really doubt he knew it was a type-s, as he never saw the back of your car. Judging that you said you had your lights on (yellow fogs), its even more remote to see that emblem at night.

That 'type-s' on our trunks are very small and difficult to see. Try driving behind one. You have to get very close, take a moment to look, know what and where you are looking. Unless you are sitting in a parking lot, 95% of the people you see on the road have no idea you are in a type-s.

You took the words right out of my mouth fast daddy. One way the mustang could have known though is by looking at the rims.

there's one formula your equation doesnt answer....why does the new bullet mustang with only 4 yes 4 more horse power blow the doors off a gt????
why does the rick case 3.5 cl/tl blow the doors off a H/E/I cl/tl-S///with its 315 hp....simple its not peak power its duration...area under the curve...im not sure of the guys setup ...but we are very close to GT's in a race...just a set of new tires and you'll be comptetive with the auto....

Yup...well the Bullitt has a better intake manifold along with some minor parts...thus explains why it's faster than a stock GT.
As for the TL-S vs. GT...stock for stock, the GT may win...but if you get a horrible driver, than the TL-S may have a chance. When numbers are that close, it basically comes down to the driver...proven at the tracks. Some of my friends have raced Z28s and SS or even WS6 (way more powerful than Mustangs)...and they still win because the drivers in the LS1 cars didn't know how to shift properly....
I've raced a 98 Camaro SS from a stop light...I did it for fun even knowing that I would have gotten raped...but I did it anyways. I took off the line at 2k rpms, feathered the clutch, and was ahead by 2 cars because the guy in the SS had an auto, and he just mashed the pedal and sat there spinning..LOL...but once I shift to 3rd gear, that's the end of me ..he comes flying by and walks all over me. The LS1 engines are more top speed whereas the 4.6L are more low end...thus I'd usually win at stoplight races, but lose in the 1/4 mile...

you know that's what happen to me last year. I was driving on 35 mph zone and white mustang 2001 was right next to me. This guys were thinking to race and I race too. Soon as I across the intersection the police was on the right side of intersection. Since I was infront of white mustang I got caught first and these guys made a left turn. So I was one of the unlucky person on that day.
I asked police officer what about white mustang he was just infront of me, and you just let them go. Well, he checked on my license and he said that he not going to giving me a speed ticket instead avoiding highway signal. Well, I was little lucky.

Ever since caught by police I don't go for race on a city. So easy to get caught.:wow:

i was in a race this past weekend..about a 8mile race on I-285 FROM LAVISTA RD TO GLENWOOD RD,for those familar w/285, WITH A '97 F-150 A '98 3.2TL & '98 2.5 TL, EXPEDITION & SOME KIND OF BUICK....NEEDLESS TO SAy i smoked everyone, until i started thinking about the speeding tkt i just got for doing 106 in 55 ON THE SAME STREACH OF RD.(that i didn't have to pay, thanks to a freindly clerk @the courthouse i'm taking out this weekend) SO I SLOWED DOWN,MAINLY BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE I WAS GOING, SO I WAITED ON THE LEAD GUY. I NEVER LOOKED @MY SPEEDO, BUT THE 98 3.2 TL THAT WAS BEHIND SAID HE WAS DOING 120....I ADMIT IT WAS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE INTERSTATE, BUT IT WAS FUN....IT WAS ONE THE GUYS BACHOLR PARTY'S SO WE WAS JUST WILDING OUT

Easy man, we were all newbies once. Some newbies are a little more newbie than others but we should make everyone welcome. Until they piss us off then we can :flamer:

Personally, I've never messed with a newer GT and probably never will. I have too much pride.

The current one has 260. The previous model (before the new slight body re-design) also had 260hp when it was re-designed. When if first came out, it only had 215hp for the first couple of years of so. You can tell the difference by the taillights. The 215hp model has horizontal red bars on the taillights. The 260 hp model has vertical bars. My guess is you killed a 215hp version. I think at best we'd just be able to keep up w/ the 260 hp GT in a Type S. I can't imagine killing one, but I've never raced one so who knows.

But the main post I was referring to is the one where he just yells at rominl for no reason whatsoever...to the point that they closed that thread...that's why.

Yeah I think it was the one with horizontal red bars. Well it had to be the 215hp for sure. I only have 225 plus some mods.

Anyways, I was driving back with my girlfriend from the movies, after I passed him on the highway and he saw my beautiful TL he got jealous and catch up to take another look.

After he took another look and got mad, because my car look so good and he couldn't afford it, he put the emergency lights to ask me if I wanted to race. Of course as a civilized boyfriend I control myself.

Then he got next to me and my girlfriend when like this to them.

I said oh here we go. He pretty much never got to see my car again.

I was at a light the other day after leaving work, and a friend from work in his IS300 5-sp pulls up next to me. He looks over and points at the red light, and I just shook my head and said 'nah'. Usually I am the instigator because it's fun beating him in his Lexus, but for some reason I didn't this time. So, light turns green, we both slowly take off, and about 10 seconds later a cop goes by going the opposite way. Not sure what made me not do it at that time.

Hey... speaking of cops, the October Motor Trend has an interesting article on how to avoid getting tickets. Pretty common sense stuff (for most people), but still pretty funny to hear about how stupid people can be...

... The real question is, not "Can the TL-S take the 'stang".

The real question is:

"Can the TL-S take the Cop Cruiser?".
