Yes if the TL is a TL-P. Definitely if the TL is a TL-S.

The 5 speed IS isn't as good as I imagined it to be... I wasn't too impressed with it...

I know someone that has the IS 5 speed and they say it feels quick because its a manual, but compared to other cars, its just not fast.

But that IS300 is a pretty car, though, isn't it? I was downtown last night and saw the most gorgeous yellow IS300. This car was so gorgeous, I had to take several looks in front of me at it, said "daaaaaaaaaamn" a few times....then I blasted past him.

One of my colleagues has one, but he bought it mainly for its looks. It's actually surprisingly a bit slower than my TL-P.

Stock for stock and auto for auto, the TL can beat it.

If I'm not mistaken, even with the manual IS, the TL-S can still beat it.

i still strongly believe tls can blow is300 auto or manual.

whether it looks good is personal taste. i have seen people saying my car looks so plain and ugly, but oh well, i only need to know my car looks great

Talking about pure acceleration, the TL should be about the same as the IS, and the Type-S should be able to win by a lid. But the handling of the IS300 is hard to match.

I guess I am an old guy with no style (39), but to me the yellow on the IS 300 is UGLY. The car is also small. The person who parks next to me at work who is extremely hot, has a yellow one. I also just can't get used to that orangy colour Acura was painting its CL, and some Civics, either. IMHO, the colour of the car makes it and yellow kills the look of any car.

Actually, I'm not that young myself (33), and am more conservative than you might think with style. While that IS 300 caught my eye, I wouldn't buy it myself, unless I needed some flash in my collection. I also agree that it's a bit small....and a bit slow, reasons I didn't consider it when I was looking for a car recently.

i haev to agree with the is300 handling, it's simply awesome. the steering wheel is to tight and cornering is precise. i wish our tls have that kind of handling as well. hope that's the case for the next generation of tls.

.... I have a friend who got it... and he hated so much and kept it for less than a year and traded for TL-S. (According to friends working in GM, they said Toyota actually bought transmission from them... don't know if it's truth or not.. )

IS 300 are for CERTAIN people (at 31 thousand and change for 2001). I know LS 400 and ES 300 owners (older and young) that traded in those cars for the IS. Depends on if you want FUN FUN FUN!!!!

LEXUS iS300: A GREAT HANDLER

The Lexus iS300 out-handles the BMW 3 series, and has .91g lateral acceleration. That's Ferrari territory, but for a $30000 car to achieve this, it is quite a feat. Our TL's and S's are bigger, and roomier, and the straight line acceleration is better. It seems you can't have it all unless you put in the bucks. I think Acura did it right by giving a nice blend of luxury, performance, and style to the TL series. Most people agree--they're selling like hotcakes...

BTW Matt7184, where can I get the two Lexus hood ornaments for my TL-S?

isn't the TL's 5spd auto is from the GM??? that's y it improved a lot after they dropped the 4spd...

i am getting tired of IS comparison...come on...we know any TL or TL-S can beat them out in straight line...

leave the IS alone and go for the Maxima or I35...or maybe volvo T5 or Saab Aero sth like that....just n e thing below 7 sec....

I'm pretty sure that a stick IS could beat a TL, they both run low 7's, and at higher speeds an IS will pull away because of it's gearing.
