are we talking about I35 or I30, cuz if its I30, for sure you will get him, cuz they only comes in auto! but I35, even tho they are all auto, but they are about the same as TL.... I have seen an auto Maxima3.5 ran 14.7 stock!

But the I30/I35 has always been slower than the max's.

yeah i35 is SLOWER than the maxima....... that's what the review at edmunds show and they actually wondered why nissan would make the i35 slower and much more expensive.......

the tl-p should have no problem taking the i30 and i35.... i have tested them with my tls and it was sooooo boring.

you can read it here:

http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/compa...8/page005.html

edmunds.com bashes pretty badly on this car. quote of the summary:

The Infiniti is a good car, and most undemanding consumers who need spacious rear seat accommodations will love it. However, we found that it lacked character; aside from its shiny chrome wheels and toothy grille that reminded us of Bowser's (of Sha-Na-Na renown) mug it lacked visual appeal, and its ride kept nagging us that we paid thousands more than if we had just bought a Maxima. Of course, in 2002, the new I35 will come out, with its 260-horsepower engine. Yep, that's just around the time when the 240-horsepower Nissan Altima will be introduced. Hmm...
umm......

Thumbs up

I should work for Edmunds. They bash the Jag x-type too (and I agree with them).

that's a stupid mistake coming out with an ALTIMA with 240 hp...

that's like blowing their higher models off..

altima used to be only 155 hp... to 240..that's too big of a jump..

I can just see sales go up on the altima...and everything else above it..will be neglected..

the only 2 models i see selling well..is the coming out of G35

and Q45.

I actually considered the Altima 240 hp, but jettisoned it in favor of the tried, true, and better TL-P. I agree with the general sentiment that Nissan is going to hurt low-level Infiniti sales with this move--if I were a Nissan wonk, the Altima is what I'd get. Looks better, anyway.

if you just talk about the cars, the altima is really cool. but if you also throw in the price factor it's just ridiculous. a fully loaded altima would be around 26 to 28k. would i get that car (full of plastic) at that price? no way. imho i think nissan has overestimated the value of their cars.

but yes, i agree totally that the 240hp altima simply blows off a lot of their own high end cars like the maxima and the i35........ it's funny when you walk in the dealership and learn that the maxima only has 20 more hp......

PCVTEc, yeah the ES 300 sucks! Great comment. Understand the ES 300 is not trying to be a sports sedan, it is just trying and being the premier entry-level lux car. That was BEFORE the 2002 model. Now the ES 300 can pass as a full-blown luxury car. But it sounds like you can't even begin to tell real wood from fake wood so I understand your comment.

To give credit where it's due, I have to agree with Lex that ES300 was NOT intended to be a Sports Sedan.... Sure it drive boring compare to IS300 or TL... but it does a very good job taking you from A to B, even better than TL IMO.... it's very quiet, refined, and comfortable. Fit and finish is far superior(which Toyota/Lexus is know for anyway.... and I truely agree) than most other Japanese cars on the road. New ES300 is just luxurious, not a bit less than, say, E-Class or 5-Series.....

However, if you are comparing high end luxury sedans/coupes... I would stick with German brands..... German cars are just that much tighter, structure wise, compare to Japanese cars.....

I feel the same way about German cars. Everything seems solid when your behind the wheel. I test drove a 99 1.8t quattro automatic this summer. Forget that is was dead slow, everything was so nice: structure tightness, ride/handling, and quietness.
