Can anyone tell me what OEM additions/refinements were made to the TL from the 2000 model to the 2001? Also from 2001 to 2002, besides the introduction of the Type S. Thanks,

From 2000 to 2001, nothing of great significance. 2001 TL's got an improved cupholder (which will fit in the 99-00 TL's with a little work), and an emergency release inside the trunk. Maybe some new colors.

2002 got the good stuff. Besides the addition of the TL-S, the '02s have memory seats (finally!) and an in-dash 6-CD changer. I'm not sure if VSA (electronic stability control, which is what a lot of people seem to think traction control is) is available only on the TL-S or if 2002 TL-P's have it as an option.

2002 TL-P only had traction control not the VSA. VSA only available in TL-S.

 

The 2000 model & 2001 model are the same.
The 2001 got a deeper cupholder this is a part that some 99&00 owners on here have purchased. This part is very easily fitted into the 99&00 models at a low cost of $9 or less. It only takes you less than a min to do this task. The Emergency Trunk Release was also added to the 2001 model. This is if someone gets locked into the trunk such as a child. The 99&00 models have a cable that is also inside the trunk but it is used in case your inside trunk release or remote fails. This will also release the trunk but it is not an Emergency Release. Floor Mats were standard on the 2001 model. The 2002 model has more dynamic front & rear styling. It has reshaped HID headlamps it also has a new wheel design, six-dsc indash cd changer ,fog lamps, reshaped side mirrors for less wind noise. I also think & its most likely true the car has more sounddeadning materials & new door seals.
The 2002 had more than 500 improvements done & offcourse you have a Type-S variant.

 

Also, the steering wheel has a different centre piece and the right mirror tilts when reversing. I think that now covers most items.

 

however, the 2002's headlights are not as bright as the 99-01's...

You can add 6, 10, 12 cd changer in the TRUNK. You cannot add Factory 6-disk-in-dash to retrofit existing 1-disk-in-dash. It suks..

 

I also noticed something different from 2001 to 2002 that was odd to me. The "Acura" lettering and the symbol on the trunk are alot larger on the 2002's than the 2001's. Not a big deal, but a difference.

 

doesn't the 2000 have the trunk opener from the inside too? i could have sworn i saw it when doing the install for my subs . . . haven't checked, so i could be wrong, but i swear . . . if i wasn't so lazy, i would have already checked b4 this, but what can you do

 

just looked, yes my '00 has an emergency truck release inside the trunk!

 

Its not the same thing as the Emergency Trunk Release on the 2001. However it would open the trunk from the inside. Emergency Trunk Release in easy to find in the dark if say a child is traped in the trunk. The cable on the 1999& 2000 models will open our trunk from the back seat if our remote or release fails.

 

The emergency trun release for '01 allegedly glows in the dark. Never tried it though.
