Talking TL-S vs CL-S

The result..??

TL-S 1 - 0 CL-S

OKie.. here is my story. I was on my way to school today and I saw a black CL-S a couple of cars in front of me. I was thinking of giving him a taste of TL-S all along. I knew there would be a straight section ahead because I know the road very well. The traffic was quite heavy but I managed to tailgate him. I saw an opening so I gunned it. He noticed that I flied by him so he gunned it as well. Once he caught up on me, I stepped on the gas a little bit more (I was in D4). We were at 120-130. He was behind me the whole time. Eventually, he gave up and drove away..

If it was an auto cl-s then you guys would be pretty even but if it was a 6 speed cl-s, you wouldnt really have a chance unless you have mods. My brothers 6 speed cl-s was alot faster than my tl-s when i had it

Yup.. 100% stock! I guess the CL-S is auto too. But one thing I noticed.. one of his fog lights burnt out (keke....)

Well.. 120-130 in 80 zone. People usually go 100 anyway..

Yeah, he was referring to Kilometers per hour. 120-130 is about 70-80 mph. The Type-S can really go nuts when you want it to.

On my way home one night, there was a done-up Grand-Am that was cutting people off and weaving in and out of traffic. He must have installed a new muffler tip or something that makes him feel so powerful. I passed him leaving it on D4. A 96/ 97 Maxima decided he wanted to have join the fun so he tried to tailgate. It was a good distance before the next lights and the road was nice and straight, so I let it loose and next thing I knew the car was going 160 kph (100 mph). This was a 60 kph (40 mph) zone.

Needless to say, I never did see both cars when I waited at the next lights. My stress relief for the day.

Yo, guys! I have a question. When we are going this fast, shouldn't we shift to D5 instead of staying D4??

No.. If your racing you wanna stay in the lowest gear possible, for maximum torque, pickup & acceleration. Only shift up when you have to, all other times shift down or stay in that gear.

when u do normal driving and u reach to d5 it usually normal so there is less fuel consumption because if ure driving in 4th gear at like 4k rpm u are really wasting alot of gas

when u race someone you realllly want to be in the lowest gear possible w/o being in the red line. when u reach the red line than shift to next gear for more acceleration. albeit the gas is being wasted, but the more rpm (rotational per minute) the more air/fuel is being burned in the engine thus= more torque/hp... so that is why u want to have high rpms...

According to the manual, it will downshift from 5 to 4 under 125mph or 200km/h and from 4 to 3 under 104mph or 166km/h for Type S. So you should be able to hold 3rd up to 104 and 4th up to 125 if you want to really redline it. Not that I've tried.

I hope you actually raced. Your story sounds like you did a "rice fly". Pretty scandalous if you did.

That was in interesting race. I have never thought of giving a CLS auto or manual a run until I get my SC. I've always assumed they are the no win zone.

The car will not "downshift" at all at the speeds noted above, it will hold the gear above those speeds, though...

So, really, was this story in mph or kph? Either way, some race if you guys were in D4...Try s/s and start from 3 next time and see what happens...

I live in Canada... so I guess it's in km/h.

In fact, there are so many TLs and CLs here! You just see them everywhere!
