actually i doubt that the g35 coupe will have any problems at all. Reason being, engine has been used in many other nissan/infiniti cars and has done well. any mechanical problems have been taken care of. the only problem i can see is stupid little things like brake problems, and rattles! everything else is already in another car and if there were any problems, they will not show it soon.
i'd say that its a excellent car to purchase in its first year. and if things do go bad, you have warranty!!!!

Maybe it's just me.....I love the G35 for everything (options, performance, price) but the way it looks.
The TL is squarish and low to the ground, just like a Formula One car. The G35 looks like a pregnant frog.
(Sorry acurasouthfl. No offense. I just do not equate speed with rounded body styling, just like looking at the VW bug and going "boy, that is a quick little car")

haha..ROFLMAO...I never thought of that andysara...In a way you're right...however, I personally think it looks great...even thought at certain angles I can agree with your summation

but I think I'll put up with it's 280 bhp...0-60 of 5.9sec...nav/premium package...18 inch wheels and limited slip differential that my diamond graphite/black leather interior will come equiped with....the agony is the waiting

nEW g35 C looks great. Interior is not that great but for under 32k, I understand. G 35 sedan has had I think 3 recalls already. I have nill confidence in Carlos Ghosen's strategy of selling engines and a steering wheel cutting cost strategy.

Just went to the Auto Show this weekend and the G35 coupe is smokin'! However, they really sold the car short on the interior. I don't think anyone would have balked at an MSRP of $1,000 higher if it were evident that that entire amount went to improving the interior.

Ghosn's strategy is pretty basic, really -- sex sells. But I don't think it's going to do much for Nissan's long-term quality image which, in my view, is still somewhat subpar compared to [mostly] Toyota and Honda. It is, however, very successful in doing one thing -- moving cars. I think that's what Nissan cares most about for the short-term. There's probably no real major quality concerns (the VQ engine series is proven, to say the least) but fit and finish (especially interior materials) leaves a lot to be desired. I think your "engine and steering wheel" analogy hit the nail on the head. Hell, I almost said "value" :p

I'm a die-hard Honda fan -- from the amazing efficiency with which the company itself runs to the fantastic products they produce. However, if that G35 coupe had an interior even half as sexy as the exterior and I was somehow convinced that the long-term quality was there, I'd buy one today.

Just for the record...I drove my Infiniti for an extra two years waiting for the G35 to come out. After looking at the shape of the Sedan and Coupe (BUT mostly the interior)...I went NOT !!! and purchased an Acura instead. 260-280 HP is great, but after a certain number, HP is moot. Anybody here ever pushed their TL-S past the 140 mph mark ??? You could have a 350 HP TL capable of 220 mph and still not drive it any faster than 140.
I am not arguing that the torque is going to be higher, allowing you to take off faster at the light. However, for the increase in HP, there is a trade off of about 4 mpg per gallon of the freeway...for me that's 60 extra miles for a tank of gas.

Again....just my 2 cents.

thats not good 1sicklex....i rmbr this one woman who bought a new galant back in 99 (v6 fully loaded), and her tranny failed her the next morning ...also, there was this one person who bought an 02 max SE, and w/in a week the car was rattling like a old-prison bus...IMO quality control is going down across the board

Yes I know. Sorry to create confusion by abbreviating the title.

Unfortunately, QUALITY is usually the first to go. SH!t think how mad you would be if u spent close to 60k on the new S-Type Jag, those are regular sh!tboxes....

It is because car makers squeeze the suppliers nuts so tight, that they have to make things CHEAP as paper to make a profit.

Sit inside a new Nissan Altima for 2 minutes and you'll see more than ever what I am talking about

yeah, you can definitely see more quality degrading nowadays than ever... it's just going downhills all the time. for example, in terms of built quailty, i can say that my 92 camry was built a LOT better than my tls. not talking about luxury, etc.... just the built quality. and if you compare the quailty of a lexus nowadays and the ls400 way back in 1991, i am pretty sure the old one is still very solid
