TL-S owners: What will be your next car?
#41
I stumbled on a "M3" club meet one time... and man!!! I felt inferior. Don't get me wrong... I love my TL-S, sometimes I even feel a little spoil... cause I have friends that make more money than me... and not have as nice of a car. But that's only cause they don't care about cars... Anyway, I'd like to move up to a BMW or Lexus on my next car (but NOTHING under the ES or IS, has to be a V8). I just think it's kinda funny that a lot of people named their possilbe future cars based on their possilbe higher income. I guess it's the "American way." Anyway, speaking of the "American way" I've always wished I understood the basics of a car better, cause I've always wanted a classic muscle car, like a 69 Camero or perhaps a replica of a 68' Shelby Mustang (I wouldn't want a real one... I wouldn't want to drive it).

My next car is gonna be a.....
Subaru WRX Sti. I love my TL-s but I think in a year or so I might try somthing different. Because I am a serious World Rally Championship fan, I would chose the Subie WRX Sti or if that is not to be had (due to small production numbers) maybe a Mitsubishi Evolution VII. Enjoying the TL-s very much right now as those 2 cars arent even on the market yet.

One thing that really bothers me about that car is... that little square in the back... it looks like a panal that comes off for no reason (if you don't know what I'm talkin' about, next time when you see one... look at the back, lower center where the Infintiy logo is)... I love the fact that our TLs don't even have a key hole... it's so smooth. Anyway, just my two cents.

This is the problem with Acura.
Whenever a question is posed like this, no one really wants another Acura because Acura doesn't offer us any options to step up from the TL. There is no excitement past the TL, even the NSX seems outdated to what else is out there.
There is also this persona about Acura that it is an entry level luxury brand that is one step lower than your BMW, MB & Lexus, yet one step higher than your Honda and Toyotas. Acura's brand is sort of in limbo and this is the fault of Acura. As vain as it sounds, we all into brand name recognition, especially since cars are moving status symbols.
I don't want the current RL and I am sure the new RL will be good even with a V8, but it's playing catch up to Lexus, BMW & Mercedes V8s that have been out in the market for many years already.
Maybe that is why the majority of answers by fellow members are for German cars as well as other Japanese luxury brands, other than Acura.
I stepped up to a GS430 from my TL and now want the new 2003 or 2004 BMW 545 coming out soon.

Definitely the newly redesigned E-Class, and if the dough is flowing, the E55 AMG when that is rolled out.
I will also wait and see the new GS next year, and any other offering from MB and Lexus, and yes, Acura.
I never liked and still don't like BMW.
I basically have a two year horizon on the purchase of my next car - sometime in '04. Probably in the Fall.

Alot of people on this post must have alot of $$. The M5 is something like $80k!! Heck buy a vette and put the extra $$ into a home or if you already have a home, maybe some investment property. With all the horsepower wars going on, I think in the next five years some pretty neat cars should be coming out. Additionally it looks like some of those car are in the $25-$35k bracket. I think that new Mitsubishi should be pretty outragous, It looks like it will be a M3 for half the price.
At any rate,.... S2000, TT or a 78' Zepher.

BMW is Big Money Waste Don't get me wrong, they are great cars, however everything is optional and they are not that reliable compared to even Honda products costing much less. In Germany, BMW is not that big of a deal nor as costly. We pay extra for the name in the US, and until recently didn't even get their better/faster cars they have always sold over there. A 330i fully loaded has no reason to tip $35K, and more people like infinti, and I hope Acura will come out to prove it with cars of their own of equal perfromance.
