Post TL-S order confirmed for March delivery!

Just got a call from my salesperson and she confirmed that my TL-S will be delivered in March. It was ordered on Dec 21,2002 and I had a deposit ($1,000) for the type S since Aug 25,2000! She will call me with the exact build date when it is confirmed but it will be in March!

Yes it should have said Dec, 2000 when the dealer actually ordored the car and yes I am excited!

I went to the dealer in Montreal today and asked them about TL-S. Some of them
didn't know it has showed up in the auto shows in US already. One guy said" Oh, I know that, will it come to Canada?".
I wouldn't be surprised if it's no coming to Canada. We don't even have navigation system as an option, which is a big pity of my purchase.

What's with all the temperal distortion? I'm convinced it's 2001, or has there been a decision to skip the year 2k+1?

The dealer is not telling you the truth. All dealers attended the annual new vehicle show in Dallas last week and were told that the 2002 TLs will be out starting in March,2001.

jhalderman is right - I saw the dealer's delivery sheet at the dealer in Richmond and it saw two silvers (1 nav 1 non) arriving in March

Well there is something funny going on. I don't know why he would lie. He only had about 6-7 '01 TLs on the lot (and not even the color w/Nav that I wanted). He did have about 20 CLs on the lot but I told him I didn't want a CL.

He even went in the back to confirm with "the man" on the delivery date. He was even willing to take "an order" for one. In another week I'm going to start calling dealers around here and see WTF is going on.

By the way I put "an order" in quotes for a reason. It wasn't a real order he wanted to do. He basically said I would get the first silver+NAV that happens to come in. That's not ordering, that's reserving. BTW he told me they already had 6 "orders" in. He also said he would charge MSRP but wouldn't know what that was until about a month before the car hits the lot.

I wouldn't be so pissed if I didn't have a lease ending in March. I can probably get it extended but I don't want to mess around with it if I don't have to.

He ordered it in Dec. of 2000 to arrive in March of 2001. Tricky huh....

On a side note, I'm glad you guys are getting them so early. You can fill the rest of us in on the pros and cons (if there are any) while we wait for ours

Ok....heres my scoop! Went in last weekend to my local dealer (Ed Martin Acura) in Indy. They had about 8 new TL-S's coming in and only had deposits on 3. They had the Aegean Blue with Nav and it was open! Well...I gave them my card number...500 bucks and its held! Delivery date of March 18th....even told me if I didnt like it, they would refund my deposit! How about them apples.....LOL!

Wink

just had a change of heart this weekend. i had put a deposit (1K) down for a MDX Tour w/Nav at Rallye Acura in Roslyn NY, and i decided to switch my deposit to the TL-S W/Nav. i thought, why spend the extra 8-9k on a SUV when i could have a sport sedan? my salesman (Bert) wanted $42,907 w/tax incd. i'm thinking that the TL-S w/Nav is going to be around 35K with tax. Bert says the build date is March 6th...and he expects the cars to roll into showrooms late March. so i'm hoping i'll get my ride by then.

Besides saving $7,000, you are getting a 2002 car instead of a 2001 SUV! I think this means a lot especially next Fall when the MDX would be a year old and the TL-S is still brand new.

I too have a build date for 12 March with delivery around 20 March. One of the few events on the near term horizon to look forwards about.

If the Acura model design cycle is four years (major redesign, not mid cycle minor redesign like 2002 TL), the TL model is in the third year whereas the MDX is still in the first year. So two years down the road, the TL will be replaced by a new style. But the MDX will still have two more years to go before being out of date.

Yeah, but in two years, he can take the $7k he saved, trade in the 2002 TL-S, and get the new 2004 TL-S and still be ahead of the game !!
