Post TL-S Inventory in Chicago

I was out a a Chicago Suburban Dealership today. They had about 8 TL-S's on the lot and another 5 TL Premiums. 4 of the 8 Type S's were Navi. Unless these are all sold, doesn't look like there's a big demand yet. They only had 2 2001 TL's left on the lot.

Two of the Type S's were White Diamond Pearl. One had the parchment interior and the other had the black. I've never been a fan of parchement, however it looked nicer than the black because of the woodgrain trim (instead of the bowling ball).

It is the exact opposite here. My dealer only had four 02 TLs (two of each) and over 25 01s sitting there. I don't think that there is a huge demand for the new one here yet, especially because there are so many 01s to sell off for cheaper first.

TLwiz - yeah i took my test drive of the TL-S in auburn last thursday .... framingham has a TON of '01s too... but Norwood only has a handful.

I have a few things to say about the different dealerships...hmmm.. i'll just say that the guy in Auburn was very cool. I told him I had driven the '01 TL but wanted to try out the bigger engine of the S type. He just tossed me the keys - didn't copy my license - and said have a good time, let me know.... i was impressed!

This report is in line with what I've been hearing from others.

The demand ain't what they might have hoped for...

Hell there MA folks,
I went to Acura of Boston yesterday and I took a ride on both TL & TL-S. I was impressed with cars where as the sales guy Perry was telling me some honeydew stories in other words BS.

Acura wants to make sales like saturn and also demand is very very high even for 01TL. So we really would not be interested in bargains about these great cars. And finally he said if you are interested in 01 TL, probably I would reduce couple of hundreds that too because of 02TL is here already. These are the words that I heard from him. I felt like.......

When I was in the market for CL-S, I went to Framingham Acura(HERB CONNOLLY) and the lady her name HELEN did not even allow me for a test drive.

I think there might be a problem with my face. I don't see any reason other than this.

what do you guys think?

I think they knew about the lack of demand before-hand, hence all the commercials/ads promoting the TL-S. The # of MDX commericals I see are dwindling.

Also, I haven't seen any 1-1 comparisons in any magazines with Bimmers, Infy, or Lexus yet. Once the S comes out on top, I think word gets around. But for right now, the only people enthused about the S are hardcore TL fans and/or previous TL owners.

Hey steevr, which dealer were you at? Just curious. I was at Woodfield Acura on Saturday and saw a 2 TL-S, but was in a time crunch and couldn't hang around to see what else was available.

newtllover -

Hiya.. i did a 5 test drives around the end of feb while i was deciding on which car to get - the only one who seemed to give me any flack was the BMW guy....then i told him i had just driven the lexus IS300 and that it was a very fun ride - the BMW guy took it as a challenge - and i found out that the BMW was even more fun LOL!

Couple more rides later i took out the TL '01 - i was so impressed with the ride -
and the value
(this sales guy only hinted at the type s cars)

anyway these were all down in norwood because all the dealerships are close together.....

so the next day - i took my husband to the framingham people. we took a look inside the CL type s and i just loved the interior - so he told me about the tl-s - wanted to have me drive the 01 CL-s to get a feel for the bigger engine, but it was like snowing and sleeting - here's the thing: he knew we were off to foreign motors in natick to have another look at the bmw
he promised to a: send me the brochures for the tl-s and b: call me when they got some vehicles in. he did niether.

in addition, my sister tried to buy a hyundai from that place about 6 months ago - they fed her one line after another - she ended up buying from norwood

ok - we're going to buy from whoever gives us the best deal - but for whatever reason those people in framingham don't seem to want to make a sale.

Yes, the WDP is the only exterior that may come with either parchment or ebony interior

Question

Which dealership is better in the Chicago- land area in terms of service & price:

Mcgrath, Muller, or Arlington? I hesitate going to Arlington, coz' it's owned and operated by the same people who run Schaumburg Honda (irreparable reputation for being the most conceited sales reps and for their outrageous prices on hi-mileage cars).

Muller had excellent service-I almost got a Teg GSR b4 I got the Si, but haggling with the sales-manager on the price left a sour taste.

Don't know about mcgrath. I hear people say that it's cheaper and easier to find good deals in the Milwaukee area. Any truth to this? Would like to hear other's opinions.

There's also Pauly Acura in Highland Park. They are a cut above some of the others you mentioned, and from my experience their service is excellent.

Any new insight on dealers in the Chicago area? I'm getting ready to buy a TL-S and so far haven't found a good dealer. I went to Ed Napleton and the sales person didn't know much. Went to Continental and tried to begin dealing with them but there wasn't a manager around so the sales guy couldn't do anything.

Go see John Haake of Acura of Libertyville (he's off on Tuesdays). He's about 35-40 years old and knows his stuff. Nicest guy in the world. 2 of my friends bought their TL's from him. Service at the dealership is excellent. My buddy was leaving for a trip to Atlanta. His A/C relay blew and they didn't have the part. It would have taken until the next day to get the part, so they took the part off a new TL in order to get him going the same day. When the part came in the next day, they put it back on the new TL.

I had a $1,000 deposit down last summer on an MDX and cancelled it after I saw the MDX's didn't have HID's, or body side molding and had the stupid middle seatbelt coming down from the ceiling, Got my deposit back no prob. If I decide to get the TL-S, it will be from them.

Tell him Steve sent you.

Hey Steevr, I'm also from Chicago! I'm looking at buying a 99-00 model TL around 40-50k miles with Navi for under $20,000.00 out the door. I've had people here tell me that it wasn't possible and I've had others tell me that by doing my homework, I could actually pull this off. I'm putting alot down. Do you think your friend may be able to do something?

P.S (SIDE NOTE)
My family has bought several Infinitis from down the street on Milwaukee at Fields Volvo/Infiniti!!!!!!
