TL-S Engine Bypass Valve Actuator

I really need this info guys. I know how the system works in theory and when th evalve opens but I need to know what the 2 wires do going to the valve. What are they attached to? They both seem to be low volt positive signals but I don't know where they go to. Does anyone have the electrical or mechanical helm book for the 2002-2003 TL or CL type S? I could really use the pages related to that system.

I am adding it to my car and need to see how those 2 wires work.

Hey does no one know how the actuator valve works? I mean what the two wire harness going to it does?

Holy cow, this thread is almost two years old.

What exactly do you want to know?

How it works is that at 4500 RPM, the solenoid inside the actuator valve flips over, kind of like how the throttle body linkage works.

The solenoid has a wire attached to it, which is connected to another linkage on the passenger side of the intake manifold. When the solenoid flips over, the wire pulls on this linkage and turns the runner plate 90 degrees. The linkage is on the outside of the manifold, and the runner plate is on the inside. Of course they are connected on a shaft, and it's an air tight seal.

When the intake manifold runner is closed, the two sections of the intake manifold are separated. When it is open, it turns 90 degrees to fully open the path between each compartments. Thus it delivers more air to the combustion chambers for the VTEC operation.

Now what exactly do the two wires do? I would imagine one is a power wire, and the other is a signal wire for the actuator to know when to flip open and close. But don't quote me.

Yeah and it's been brought back to life by the original owner. That's gotta be a first.

I still want to know how I can get it to work. Its over 13 years later. Guess thats a first too. Does anyone know if it can read the tachometer signal or does it get its signal to operate from the computer interpreting the rpms.

There is a little bit of additional information on the attachment.

Near as I can tell, the IMRC module is nothing more than an RPM switch. At 3800 RPM it sends 12v to the actuator to open the butterfly then below 3800 it cuts the power and the return spring snaps it closed.

Some people that have swapped a J32A2 into a P model use an RPM switch like https://www.msdperformance.com/produ...ols/parts/8969 to get the IMRC to work

^^ don't quote me on the 12v, It might be 5v. Either way it's a simple on/off circuit. Apparently, later model Honda engines use a step motor setup where there is an on signal and a separate off signal to
control the actuator.

I'm curious if I may be having an issue with actuator. 5-10 seconds after I start my car I hear an electrical motor turn on. Sometimes it turns on a second time as I shift into gear. I seems to have a slight acceleration problem that goes away after about 3- 4 minutes of driving. When I let me foot off the gas and press the pedal, sometimes the hesitation goes away. Anyone know if this could be the actuator sticking?
