Tinting for Tl
Tinting for Tl
I was wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of window tinting. Cause I saw some cars with air bubbles in the rear window, and it seems like it was caused my bad tinting. My cousin told me that tinting will burn out my defrosters and make it more difficult to see at night. So is there any good thing that comes out of window tinting in the long run? other than it looks nice. Would the traditional smoke effect look good on a silver tl or the new platinum tinting?
i don't like cops. The funny thing is that I been driving for about a year now, because i'm like 16....and I haven't go pulled over or ticketed by a cop, and i speed like crazy all over the place. I'm thinking it's the type and color of my car..cops usually watch out for cars that have bright colors and all riced out..they wouldn't ever expect a TL to be driven by a kid!! hahaha!
I would also recommend using the search function. There's been a lot of discussion on tinting, from pros and cons to tint percentages to rear window ideas, etc..
I've also posted a few links that will help you in your decision.
Good luck!

to answer your first question......tinting keeps the car cooler in the summer by not allowing as much sunlight inside. And in the winter, it helps the efficiency of the air system by some manner....I don't know how, but that's what I've been told by several people. Plus it makes your car look a lot better. Hope this helps.

Window tint also filters out the majority (depending on how dark and what quality) of the sun's UV rays that damage the interior leather. This will reduce eventual fading and cracking of the leather.
The thing about the rear defrosters being ruined by tint can sometimes occur when the tint is removed. I've heard of the tint pulling off those black lines, but if you never remove the tint, the defroster should be ok. And about reducing visibility, it all depends on how dark your tint is. The darker the tint, the harder it is to see out the window.
IMO, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

I just got mine tinted today and its pretty nice. The guy said its 15% but looks like 20% but i dunno. I have a spoiler so the back light on the back of my mirror wont light up when i brake, but i forgot to tell them that i wanted that covered. Well its not covered which looks kinda ugly cause its not used at all.
