Tint question....what % looks the best????
I've been searching for the answer but I only found how you can see the outline of a person at 20-25% and people with 35% sometimes wish they went darker....i just wanted to know what do you think will look the best on my black TL-S, I'm getting them all done rear included, and my state law is 35%, and in VA they dont play, I'm not really worried about it I just dont want to be pulled everytime a Cop sees me

I personally love 20% black tint on a black car...looks great. But I know that VA can be a pain in the ass, so maybe you should stick with the 35%. It isn't quite as nice as the 20%, but it will definitely look good and won't get you in trouble. Oh, for the record, I have 21% metallic tint on my silver TL-S and I love it.

THe combination I have on my WDP is 35% on the four side windows and 20% on the rear glass with 55% on the front windshield. The windshiled is optional of course but I would highly recommend doing it this way. I first had 20% all around and thought it was too dark and couldnt see when I was backing out of my driveway or when making left hand turns in the dark. I had to sometimes have my windows rolled down.
Then I went back and had the sides ripped off and uped it to 35% and love it. If you're worried that half your car will look darker then the rest, trust me, 100% guaranteed that IT WON'T!! It will look very classy.
Again all this is personal preference, but understand that most of the light comes in through the car from the front windshield and rear glass, so that is why I didnt do 35% all around cuz then the car on a whole would appear to be too light. The mixed combo I feel is the best.

Good info....i was thinking about doing this...30 in the fronts, and 20 in the rear and back glass....although I didnt want it to seem like the front is lighter then the rear...so your saying that wont really be a problem? Thanks guys for the good info

I'd like to get my TL tinted too. But I've heard horror stories such as the installer having to cut into the window seals - making things less airtight after the tint. Also, some installers physically remove all windows to make the best tint job. For some reason - I don't trust those guys working on my car....unfortunately I like doing everything myself.

I have no idea about % and stuff but I have gotten about 3 cars done, although i just said throw whatever on there and really didnt care what it looked like...although if you go to a respected window tinter, then you would think it's factory....on mine it only had about 1/10 of an inch at the top and it looks very good, but yeah i've heard bad things about some local people that will leave a few inches and stuff, even them messing up your interior with the water or heat gun, but i've always gone to the same person and he knows what i expect and always delivers

just got 20 done the other week. i love it. got my first ticket last night. not even a week after i had it. but it looks really sharp people can not see in it. and u can still see out of it. if you get 35 tint the sun roof limo it will make it look darker.

Just make sure that all 4 passenger windows are one percentage, if they aren't then you will be able to notice the shade diff. and it is horrible. Do 35% on all sides and 20% on the rear glass. Optional windshield if you'd like. You won't regret it.

%20 matches better than %35 on a black car

i got 20% on the fronts and 5% on all rears. i love it and couldn't have it any other way. i would do the windshield but i already have to drive all paranoid about cops because of my fronts being tinted. i heard that having the windshield tinted is no fix-it ticket here

Always 20%
Every car I've had tinted I've had at 20%. 35% is just not enough for me. I'm in MD and in the 8 years I've had 20% on I've gotten two inspection citations. City and county cops don't really care, it's always been state troopers who have written them. Technically they can fine you $55 but they never have.
As for visability, the only time I have trouble is at night IF it's raining AND I'm on a street with no lights. Usually though, no problem.
I say go 20% on all 4 and the back winshield.
Thanks,
Joe
