Tint Levels

When a tint shop says they have light, medium, dark, and limo, what percent are they?

What a retarded shop.. I wouldn't use them if I were you..

but if I can assume what they mean..

light = 70%
medium = 50%
dark = 35% or 20%
limo = 5%

Still, they should just say what percentage they are.. You won't find any laws talking about what legal tint is for medium tint..

I would press for some percentages, as that's how most reputable tint shops differentiate between the varying shades. And if they don't know, then I'll second what Edub says and "stay away!"

My guess on the car above looks like at 35%. It's not too dark and you can still see through the sides in daylight.

I got 35% as well, but my pic below doesn't reflect it! Guess I need to update my sig pic, huh?

I'd say the tint on that car is 35% sides and 20% rear

I agree with all of you the standard is 75% 50% 35% 20% & 5% limo tint. The TL already has green heat rejecting glass in it from the factory. This will make any tint slightly darker on the car. I have 51% Shatter Block non metalic tint all around. This is because of stupid DC. laws & its still not legal. I will have to take it off when I go thru inspection. I most likly will be abale to slip thru with the rear window. That black TL looks like it has 20% on the rear window & 35% on the sides.

yea, that sounds right. but is also depends on whether or not u have a dark or tan interior... the darker the interior.. the darker the tint will be. i have a green tl, with tan interior and am going to tint it soon. i def. want 20% on the rear, but i think that 35% on the sides is not enough with a tan interior, but i dont want anything deeper b/c i know how hard it is to see at night. do u think i should maybe get 35% on the front 2 windows, and 20% on the back three windows? or would that look funny? whats the deepest i could make it where it wont b an annoyance to see at nite?

To acheive a clean look, you want the tint level on the front and rear doors to be the same. I have 20% in the rear window and 35% on the doors.
