yeah there's actually 2 seperate recalls for this...one is for the tensioner (sb#03-030) and one is for the tensioner and water pump inspection(sb#03-022)

Yeah, I got a recall notice over the weekend for my 03 TLS. Something about the tensioner could cause the engine to leak oil?

Contact your local Acura dealer. They will ask for you car's VIN and, from that, determine if your car is impacted.

I did not receive a letter (second owner) and my 03 TL-S was subject to the tensioner "campaign" (Acura has an aversion to "recall"). Had it done on Friday - no big deal. Also had them fix the rattling sunroof shade. This was the first visit to the dealer since new - 24K miles.

ajay...no it dosent cause a engine oil leak...the tensioner is hydraulic...the oil inside of it is what leaks out.

i had mine replaced about a month ago, just got the mailer yesterday.

it basically sounds like a really rough idle if you have the problem. definitely sounds like there is a belt loose.

i brought it in on saturday, told them i thought it was the belt tensioner that i had read about. by tuesday they told me i was wrong, but they didnt know what it was. by friday they said that i may have been right, and then it was fixed in a half day.

soo....6 days if your dealer is a moron, 1/2 day if they know what theyre doing.

I had mine done last weekend and yes, the service department is getting tons of these. They told me to give them 4 hours, I said fine, just give me a loaner.

Unlike the waterpump issues, were they inspect the part number on the waterpump, they are replacing the following:

Timing belt - 04140-P8E-000 KIT
T/B TENS 14520-P8E-A01

actually if your car has only the tensioner update(sb#03-030) and not the water pump recall(sb#03-022(and only a few under this actually need the w/p)) only the tensioner itself is replaced

just noticed that they are replacing the timing belt, the tensioner and the water pump, along with that, they will fix my sunroof rattle, seat belt squeeks, and warp rotors. i was in the market for a suv, but i think i will pass on the mdx now, since there are so many problems with acuras.
