Timing belt replacement

Did a search...no answer.

What's the recommended miles for a timing belt replacement? Got about 95K on the '02 TL. Independent shop quoted me about $600 to do the job...

My 99 TL owner's manual says 105k miles or 84 months which ever comes first.

105 and or 6 years. I would replace it strictly from the age of your belt and not the miles. 600 is a decent deal

the book says 7/105
on price just the right parts for the job, tensioner-new belts etc ,,there is a special from a dealer sponsor here at 300 just the parts!

while some east coast ziners found a honda dealer doing it for under 500 total
and accepted TL for same price- they must want business bad!!

Have to be certain whats going to be installed... or you can screw yourself badly- thinking low bid is best place~
like a shop that says the water pump is fine since its not leaking right now hahahahaahahahahahahaha- -yeah that'll `be fine` for a few months and then you need a new motor

It's a brand new Honda dealership. Maybe their guys are getting On-The-Job training.
$389 for the pump and belts. Add $75 for tensioner. Pulleys are checked, but not replaced.
I'm still on the fence on this one. It is an hour away, and would remove a
valuable learning experience from my ownership period of this car.

It doesn't mean that it's going to break right away, but you should get it replace.

how many timing belts do you plan to replace?
its good training if thats the goal
but 400 and some for the tensioner/idlers etc is a steal
All the techs have gone thru honda training center schools before allowed to touch your car
There are rising skill levels, and each job has a minimum skill rating required
the oil change kid cant adjust the valves--
which also should be done now to make your car run like new

if you want and expect the t belt system to last another 105- replace the pullies!!!!
all of them- or one will fail and take the timing belt out- instant 2500$ engine damage to top end for saving a hundred bucks today
