Timing belt change - Need info please!
It is the time (in fact, long due) to change timing belt on my '01 TL. I just bought the AISIN kit, which comes with the following -
Thank you in advance.
- AISIN Water Pump
- Koyo Idler Bearing
- Koyo Tensioner Bearing
- Mitsuboshi Timing Belt
- Water Pump Gaskets & O-Rings
Thank you in advance.

I installed the same kit, so I will tell you what I changed in addition just so you can get an idea:
- the front main seal. It's right there in front of you, might as well. I removed it by driving a wood screw in it and pulling out with pliers so as not to touch the metal surfaces.
- the serpentine belt tensioner. $55 Gates part from rockauto
- serpentine belt, Gates premium
- power steering belt, Gates premium
If you haven't already done so, the PCV valve should be changed.

I hope the hydraulic tensioner came with your kit. Perhaps you forgot to list it.

Thanks for the reply Victus, I just bought the kit online, didn't get it yet. So I am not sure if it includes hydraulic tensioner. When you bought the kit did you get it?
Also, I will not be doing it by myself. To summarize, I need to buy the following things right?
- Front main seal (is this what it is called?)
- Serpentine belt tensioner
- Serpentine belt (is this the a/c belt?)
- Power steering belt
- PCV valve

Aisin TKH-001 is what I got. It includes the hydraulic tensioner. Has 5 parts. The water pump includes the gasket.

Get the PCV valve and front main crank seal from the dealer only. They're cheap.
The Gates serpentine tensioner, serpentine A/C belt and power steering belt can be had from rockauto.com for the best price. The oem tensioner installed is actually a Gates part. Looked 100% identical when I removed it, including all markings. There is an 8mm bolt in the center of it that you can't even see....took me a while to figure out why it wouldn't come off the engine after I removed the other bolts

Yeah, make sure ya do everything ya can while it's opened up. It's only a matter of the nominal added expense for parts at the time. Very little extra labor is involved.
Another thing to possibly consider is replacing the coolant hoses if they are still the originals.....maybe even the T-stat. Use the Honda 2 stage T-stat for best results.
