Timing belt

I just got a 03 tls with 108k and was wondering if the timing belt is been replaced? Anyway of telling?
It looks like the tensioner (spelling) was replaced. Is there a reason why that was replaced and not the timing belt?

No way of telling. What tensioner? The timing belt or the serpentine belt tensioner?

All you can do is guess. if your accessories belts are not original, then more likely you have a new timing belt. But, chances are the tb is still original for that mileage.

A carfax report might possibly show if/when/where it has been in for service. You could call any likely looking entries and confirm what service was done.

This is how I confirmed the timing belt had been replaced when I bought my 02 TLS

that tensioner pulley by the alternator is for the alt-ac belt and often fails before 80
If you just bought the car chances are LOW that anyone put 1000-1500 dollars in it then sold without mentioning it as a sales point!
basic logic~

look for new spark plugs, various cover bolts removed and installed will have tool marks on them, new air filter?

Worth registering on Acura's site with the VIN- maybe it's on there if it was done. Or check with the local Acura dealer where the seller was, also w/ the VIN. I did that & got a printout of what had been done before I bought mine. Did you ask the previous owner for any service records?
