Sounds like it might be a CV joint.

check the bearings on the left wheel assembly. if the ball bearing is not working you could hear that sound.

Check the tires. You could have a screw, nail, or even a stubborn rock in the treads.
Had this happen to me twice in my old taurus. Kind of embarrasing and really annoying when cruising around a packed parking lot looking for spot.
CV joints start talking to you usually when you turn your steeing wheel.
Check the tires and get back to us.

i have the exact same thing. when my car is warmed up and especailly on a hill or incline when i accelerate slowly up the hill, the car makes this tick tick, or creeping noise whenever my foot is on the gas.

asloudas - what kind of gas are you using? If your engine is laboring (say going up a hill) and you hear a "ticking" noise, then it could be knocking (aka "pinging"). A probable cause for that is low octane fuel.

i know exactly what you are talking about. It happens when you first press the gas pedal or when you downshift in SS mode. Its the tranny. The latest tranny i had did that. The dealer said it was normal, then the tranny started slipping and the noise got a little louder and more pronounced.

Bigman, did this happen to you after the car was wormed up while diving around town or when the car was still cool on your first drive of the day?

I wish I still lived in Mount Vernon. I miss NY. No one fun owns a TL out here. its just a bunch of rednecks and pick up trucks.

check your tire for a rock or nail first, it could also be a noisy fuel pressure regulator.

My bad wheel bearing was more of a hum than a tick-tick.

Is the noise very pronounced or do you just hear it when you have your tunes off? Maybe a warped rotor(s) rubbing on the pads?
