throttle

my throttle or gas pedal was always insensitive and a bit stiff. i took it to the dealer once and i don't remember what they did but it made no difference. my question is, is it possible to make the throttle more sensitive like on my other vehicles so it gives me gas without having to press down so much? sort of like on the accord, tsx, rdx or even corollas lol

Mine is a bit stiff too. I thought I was the only one with this prob. Feels like you have to push extra hard to get off a red light. Push too hard and you launch forward without even trying.

I think I just got used to it though because I barely notice it anymore. I appreciate it more actually after driving my DD civic

remove from holder, lube the throttle cable and cruise cable inside their sheaths
(harbor freight or bicycle shop for $3 `cable oiler tool`- makes life easy)

lube throttle pedal springs and pivot inside car- place rag underneath or spray lube will end up in carpet and stink for days

Clean and lube (use deep creep for both at once) the TB air plate and its HINGE PIN !!
Clean and lube throttle return springs at TB attachment

run can of seafoam thru half tank gas to ensure injector system is clean and working perfect

egr port and passage service completed ?
it kicks in right off idle.. up to full throttle--will cause many problems when heavily restricted
needed every 75kmiles to maintain car right

I notice my 01 is touchy lately too, must be time to open the hood again~

I just figured mine was stiff because it's drive by cable instead of drive by wire, but I think I'll lube it up now.

Tom, how do recommend lubing the TB hinge pin? Just Deep Creep everywhere? Or is there a way to take out the TB plate?

I appreciate the cable opposed to DBW more and more each day
Why don't cars use this anymore again?

I'd clean the throttle as was mentioned.
EGR port clean,
Clean everything 01tl4tl mentioned and you're good.

MAYBE adjust your throttle cable back a bit.

there needs to be a little slack in the throttle cable
so it doesnt pull the TB air plate open, screw up everything!

The more I drive cars with DBW the more I REALLY like a mechanical connection!

mine was stiff, and often sticking giving me a high idle, which really sucked. adjusted tension on everything and lubed it up but it didnt really do much. the cruise control cable, which runs across the top of the radiator, was causing the sticking and stiffness. so i just disconnected the cruise control cable from the TB and that really lightened the gas pedal up, no more problems just no cruise control. also thats one less spring to compress and rids the added friction of pulling the long line in the cruise control cable every time you depress the gas pedal, so its about the only practical way to improve pedal feel. but you will need to live without cruise control soo.

Lol no need for that my pedal feel is good now. Not soft and not stiff, it's sensitive too a bit. Don't have to press much for day to day city driving. So happy.
